We got a new roof, & a bar on the Clayton End & a new school in Nepal. Beat an Ex-Premiership side away, had some more tarmac laid over the puddles & saw a 3 inch high header. ASFC Youth system saw youth inthe first team & more importantly we signed a "pub"! Remember 6 points off Morecambe & paid our highest fee ever for a player. All this & still "light" years ahead of Barrow & Worksop!!!!!

Re: Tree surgery/felling/pressure washing

Tree felling and pruning is permitted all year round but there are all sorts of regulations to watch for. Winter is the most suitable time as there are no birds nesting. There's hefty penalties for knowingly or wrecklessly (i.e without checking) working on trees that have birds nests and bats in them. Bats in particular are protected by some law that can result in jail for harming their habitat in any way.

Allways check for TPO's too (Tree Preservation Orders).. call Hyndburn council planning department, give the post code and they should tell you if there are orders on your trees. Trees in conservation areas are also protected in much the same way as a TPO. If you live on hollins lane, accrington for example, you are likely to be in a conservation area. There's a maximum fine of £2000 for breaching a TPO and the council can make you re-plant a tree. You can apply in writing to the council if you want to do some work on a tree covered by a TPO

As for the best time of year to prune that is a tricky one. If the pruning is not too drastic then most native british trees are tolerant enough and will remain healthy regardless of the time of year the work is done. When the tree is in leaf it is considered the best time to prune as the tree has a chance to recover from the surgery before entering the dormant season.
