A-Z OF PHOTO's

1 Attachment(s)
Since the photo competition ended and nobody seems willing to answer when it will be back,I thought I'd introduce a alphabetical themed photo thread.
Each day will be allocated a letter and members are invited to upload 'one' photo that corresponds to that letter and the the day will be allocated the next letter in the alphabet at 12am (midnight).

The rules are:-
1. Only one photo to be uploaded per member.
2. No uploads after midnight for the previous day's theme letter.
3. Everyone who enters must be willing to give AccyEx green karma for introducing such a great thread....Joking :D

I'll start us off.

Nice idea Jason, but(there is always a but)I think this particular theme excludes any of the members who do not live in and around Accrington......and certainly those who live overseas.
I would be happy to be proved wrong though.
I was always keen to enter the photo comp, but I will have to give this a miss as I no longer go out after dark.......too scared of being even less visible that I am in daylight.

No,this theme thread is open to 'all members' regardless of their geographical location M.
It doesn't have to be a evening shot either,I'm sure you could find some pics in your archives if you wished to enter :)

Re: A-Z OF PHOTO's

Ash, I get it now.
I thought you had designated the theme Accrington by Night, but I see now that it can be any location that begins with the appropriate letter of the alphabet.

As to the original photo comps, they were abandoned because of a glitsch with the system being used for uploads.......and I don't think it could be fixed(well not until Accyweb gets a big update).
Knowing that pics can be taken from our own archives is good too.
You see, I have helped clarify a couple of things there........so I do have my uses.

We'll put it down to my bad explanation M,It doesn't have to be a location...any picture that corresponds with the day's letter will do :)

Yes Jason I know....these are fro my era of growing up I even remember the silver threepenny bit...but only because my gran kept a stash for Christmas puds(if you found one she would demand it back and give you one of the yellow shaped ones).

It is just that buskers are inclined to get foreign coins thrown into their cap( or non legal teder - which these are).

I have run up and down those steps so many times, going to or coming from Bullough park to my Grans house, which was on Higher Antley St

Thanks . It was just one of those snaps when I happened to be in the right place at the right time .

They certainly did , and all for free , except when Charlie Court opened his hut on the park to sell ice-cream and goodies , especially ice-cream soda .

Picnics down the clough , exploring the Red Barn as we called it , following the stream up to the Five Arches . Couldn't beat those days .

Unfortunately you'd be disappointed if you were to go up .

The way up the bottom of the clough following the stream is mainly blocked off , except for a section at the top end near where the Five Arches were .

The paths on the higher level where Black Rock was are still intact though .

Leisure Poem by William Henry Davies......

" What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.

A poor life this is if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare. "

Photo taken near the bottom of Pot House Lane , Oswaldtwistle , where some kind souls have made this bench for anyone who wants to stop and rest .

Looking across the moat to Leeds Castle.
Not in Leeds as my baby sister found out when she tried to visit it in Yorkshire...but near Maidstone in Kent.
I always thought Castles were a 'boy' thing, but I loved this historic building to bits.

Lovely :)
