Abbey Street

Hi, dont know if I have shown this sketch before, but maybe not many of you will know what stood on the site of the Canine Club, corner of Abbey Street and Barnes Street.
Here is a lovely sketch, done by an Accrington gentleman, Mr Butterworth, in the 1950's

Was the artist name tony butterworth who in the fifties did a lot of various shop signs and poster work a round accrington he was also in volved with st mary mags church in that capacity he painted the drums belonging to the clb drum and bugle band and made a stunning job of them and were much admired were ever the band went

yes it is tony a very good friend of mine he also did a lot of work in the sacred heart church.

I know this thread is rather dated but brown and catlows was not on the corner in 1959 it was the second building from the corner of barnes st.

Its called artistic license
By the way Mr butterworth died a few years ago
i have a beautiful picture he did of the old market and bus station
and a few more he did but that one is special to me and its signed too
