Don't know. But there is a similar box on the side of a house in Chester Street near the corner of Charter Street. I don't think it's a Victoria (VR) box, maybe a George VI (GR) or even Elizabeth (ER) box. I'll have to look nextime I'm over.
I thought all the "old" postboxes had been replaced with the ER ones. It certainly looks old enough.
Dont know if there is a Victorian one at the corner of Knowlemere Street or not, but .. I might have a little walk and check it out. Do you know if its Victorian, or are you just guessing, cos if it is, its a different one than the one I have put up
I was wrong atarah i went down to have a look, it was GR. I know i have seen it somewhere, so, another guess is at the entrance to oak hill park, hollins lane end.
Well done! You are the winner! Sorry I dont have a prize for you
Yep, its just where you said, on the wall of Plantation Street, (almost facing Cobham Road)
Atarah, I walk past this every day on my way to mine and your place of work and I never noticed the VR, I even posted a couple of letters in it last Tuesday. It's my 9 year old daughter who gets the credit for the correct answer as she recognised straight away.
