Speed cameras are just a way of collecting a new tax, and if more effort was put into catching and punishing criminals (and those who go around mugging and beating people), Accrington would be a better place.

Speed doesn't kill...It's idiots who can't drive and rotten vehicles.

Remember, some pedestrians just don't look where they are going...and some don't care either.

Speed cameras mean the police have more time to spend with criminals!!! Why is it we are never happy...we say they should have more time to fight real crime and then when they bring in labour saving devices like this we maon again!!! ???

If people didn;t speed in the first place there would be no need for the blighters.

Well said, Les. These speed camera whingers are never happy;they moan when the cop's nick 'em for speeding - saying "stop picking on innocent motorists & go and catch burglars" - and they moan when the cops do exactly that & leave camera's in place to do the job.

I would rather stick my head in a bucket of monkey vomit than listen to their pathetic excuse of an argument.

All in all they should be there as a preventage measzr to stop people driving like idiots, say around Kindergartens schools and hospitals and the such.Would like to see one on the road between the Asda and the K.F.C. When we were over in August they drove like IDIOTS down there.17 years old and all called michael Schumacher

The worse ones are the mobile units tucked away you can see the traffic police grin in wait lol. That one going up towards Harwood was a bugger to spot until that bloke was in paper about getting fined there when there wasn't clear signs that the spped limit had changed. When i was down south they have them speed detectors that flash your speed up, they are freaky plus i think can be dangerous if you have to slow down quickly in order not to break speed limit by fractions as its quite easy to do just over & not realise it.

anybody seen the new flashing signs on New Lane/Duckworth Hill. They only flash when your above the speed limit and do not have a camera in them these signs are there to make you aware that you are driving fast (60 mph area) and that the speed limit is going to be 30 mph from the sign. The other is out side the White Bull and it catches you as you come down New Lane as you come off the bottom bend again it is a warning that you are above the speed limit.

speed cameras don't bother me, though i do not speed much- but do occasionally! if i do and get trapped its tough crap- me own fault,end of story.

I like the ones that show what your speed is. I wish they would put on on Fairfield Street so I would know how fast I am really managing to do over the speed bumps
