Taken when demolition was starting in preparation for the construction of Eastgate. Melbourne St continued beyond Avenue Parade as far as Stanley St then it became Pitt St.
Can`t remember name of Cafe.

I'm sure the cafe was open on Sunday mornings...when I was a kid..we would go down the old market Sunday morn searching for coins from under the stalls.. not very rich pickings but we usually got enough to buy a spud pie and the worst gravy ever from the cafe on Melborne st.. (eeh up,times were ard in them days!)

it was open sundays but the Milk Shakes n Jukebox made up for the pies.
