old(new) market.

Doug as promised a while ago the picture that was taken at the kiosk outside copper kettle cafe in accrington showing the then NEW market i would estimate it to be bout 1960-1961 as i was about 16yrs old (i think) .

Nice picture, Mez, but it must have been 1962 at the earliest as the "new" market was finished until then. Atarah used to have a cutting from the Observer on her site showing a picture of the foundations being laid in October 1961.

I must say, Mez does like to get into fancy dress. There she was last week at the Stag & now here she is in 1962 outside the ciggy kiosk. What, I wonder, was the occaision?

no occasion tea, we used to go into the copper kettle cafe on a sunday afternoon, then we may take a walk to either oakhill park or arden hall , or go "up arts" knowlemere st to the dance sessions they had on, just a normal sunday afternoon really, ooo eck i must have been older then ooo dear,he he he, the lady that is stood with me was called jean , if anyone can remember her ?, she either worked in there or owned it , she was great to know & looked after us.
