No problem, the walk is one on my regular walks, I enjoy it because there are plenty of wet bits on the way down, then the River Calder at the bottom.

Just checked out Gary's photo, same location but on the opposite bank, never been on that side, I think its fenced off now.

Re: Today in pictures

Last set of pics from Tenerife for now - returning home to Italy tomorrow. Two shots of yesterday's sunset and some from the fish restaurant in La Caleta this aft. Delicious fish soup followed by grilled sardines - you can tell how good they were by what was left after! I'm the one pulling a funny face as usual!

Re: Today in pictures

We took a little drive today, about 120 km south west from my home. The landscape was quite different - flat and very little snow. It's prime fruit growing and winery country, and I managed to take a couple of snaps from the car. I must go back when the grapes, cherries, peaches etc. are ripe for the eating, and a wine tasting tour would be nice too - in a few months time. The old house would have been perfect for the latest photo competition!

Gorgeous sunset, especially in #1. That fish soup looks yummy to me, but the sardines with their little eyes... not so much Hah hah. Glad you enjoyed them, though!

Re: Today in pictures

Today in Pictures is actually a few snaps taken over the last few days.

1. I do like a lichen, taken in the woodlands behind Wilson's Playing Field.
2. Still in the woodlands, how they survive on a branch is puzzling.
3. I'm not supposed to climb trees.
4. Moss in Mercer Park.
5. The lane up to Foster Swing Bridge.
6. Memorial, Mercer Park.
7. Top of Bell Lane, at the junction with Burnley Road.
8. View behind St Mary's Burial Ground, Pendle in the distance.
9. Foster Swing Bridge is just yards away, and the canal is inches behind me, one false move.............................................. ...........................

10. It's a gear here. I though shall I give it a crank, then I remembered what the policeman said last time.

Re: Today in pictures

While technically not all from today (with the exception of the Schüttorf pics more sort of over several days ..... well you've got to make it worth the effort! ) a few recent snaps to share with you all.

Two from Wednesday after the storm so to speak - Schüttorf Market square - Close up of the "Old woman & her goats" - "Firlefanz" Pub, Fred & Marion - The Grimlin getting comfy (again).

Re: Today in pictures

Today in Pictures, I overslept this morning, and the day has been on catch up ever since. the Coppice under heavy skies.

1. Start point, a look across the town.
2. I have no idea what the stones were part of.
3. The clouds are banging into the top off Pendle.
4. I am beginning to think I might get wet.
5. I remember this when the Hardy family were the farmers here.
6. It will go septic if you scratch yourself here.
7. What do you mean "it makes you want to wee".
8. And then you come across this, it sounds like the start of a joke, bags of self raising flour, just dumped over the edge into the steam.
9. Then something to make you giddy.
10. Not much remains of Plantation Mill, just bits of walls covered in moss.

Re: Today in pictures

Great pics Dave , we haven't been up that way for a while. We prefer to walk up Sandy Lane now through Spire Farm and down past Higher Brox Farm to the back of the college field. There use to be stone on the top of the walls in no 8. It didn't take long for some mother's little darling to rip them off . About two days after it was built

That's the down side of easy access, they have obviously driven a van or wagon up there to dump all this stuff. But it's all flour which is a bit job specific, and in quantities that only professionals would use. So we are looking for fly tippers with very floury faces.

4. An era passed, and ready for disposal.
5. I was given a sign.
6. I can see the people from the Telly.
7. Looks like there all out.
8. Heading back, some type of clematis.
9. Passed the old mill again.
10. Not far off now, just behind Evans Halshaw.

The old Imperial Mill, probably one of my best explores to date.

When I went passed it looked like one of the floors was still occupied by an engineering firm. Although outside it was littered with redundant machinery.
