A fish, just like any other pet, needs an environment to live in and a fish bowl isn’t it.
Now if you got a proper decent sized fish tank with rocks and plants and some sea horses that would be something.
However I have to say that wildlife belongs in the wild and not in a living room.
i have 3 goldfish in a huge tank, Kathleen i would recommend you get some sort of filter system for it, coldwater fish are know to be dirty, you'll be constantly cleaning it if you dont get a filter hun, and keep the tank away from direct sunlight....Aquamania at the bottom of Audley do quite a few varieties of cold water fish, it might be worth having a look in there, if you have problems with algae and such you might want to also get a treatment for the water called 'green away' but you can only use this with a decent filter system
the black moor fish are a nice alternative to goldfish as are the fantails

Glad you edited that I would have been in a state of quandary otherwise
The only way you should have fish in the house is covered in batter on a plate with some nice chips and mushy peas. Or with a tasty fish sauce, new potatoes and fresh garden peas.

It's never happened before and it won't happen again for a long, long time, but I actually agree with JB here. Fish bowls are no environment for live animals and should be banned under the laws governing animal cruelty.
If you think yourself responsible enough to own an animal, then the least you can do is care for it to the best of your ability.
