I don't want or expect a replacement, I just want my camera back. They can even unfix the repair that they did. At least that way I can look for my camera to be fixed at a more competetive price than £114 to solder a wire back on.

I don't think they legally have the right to do unauthorised repairs.

Sony said they do. It's not their company policy to inform the customer before repairs are made ........ I say, is it not now! We'll see about that shall we

Whatever they say their policy is, you only sent it in for the free repair they offered so I think they are on dodgy ground. Good luck and stick to your guns.
