Fitting Kitchen units

Is it easy or is it worth getting a pro to do it?

i've got some flat packs delievered to mom's house and though i've done the ripping up the old units i've been advised that its prob best if i leave the fittin to the pro's

arent flat packs meant to be easy to fit on??

if not then does anyone know of any kitchen fitters available?

Re: Fitting Kitchen units

You have to get your levels right and the height right, and fit them in the right order. Remember that the units sit on the floor and the worktop fixes them to the wall. if you get stuck go on the screwfix direct sight forums for advice, you get some planks on there but also some pro's

Good luck!!! I know when my hubby decided to fit a kitchen it was nothing short of mayhem for about 2 weeks. If you can live with the clutter and mess, and not being able to have the use of a kitchen you will be fine!! but it drove me mad, and I warned him, if he ever decides to fit another, I will definatly be going on holiday for 2 weeks.

Re: Fitting Kitchen units

well thankfully its not the house we live in - its a spare house - perfect for experimentation....

question - do i have to remove the sink to fit the sink unit? cant i just build the sink unit and cut around the req holes etc?

Re: Fitting Kitchen units

Don't see how you can leave it in. They normally remove the sink, realign the pipes to come through the back of the unit near the top. If you were a good plumber you wouldn't need flexible connectors to connect the taps, you'd lign the pipes up but even the plumbers aren't good any more.

Re: Fitting Kitchen units

Speak from your own experience, we happen to know an excellent plumber who can lign his pipes up.

Re: Fitting Kitchen units

Then he's an excellellent good plumber, one of a dying breed. I suppose there some that take pride like I do in my electrics. I'm thinking our airlock is in the twisted up flexible connector.
