Re: Elite Snooker Hall.
Al, it was right over Redmans, opposite the town hall. The entrance was near the bottom of St James's Street.

Re: Elite Snooker Hall.
I only went in occasionally. Usually got thrashed by the likes of Isaac, Florrie etc. I think Cashman knows a bit about the owners, staff etc, so I'm sure he'll be along presently to enlighten us!

Re: Elite Snooker Hall.
t'was upsatirs above Redmans in 1970 - aged 14 - knicked off school one day and arranged to meet mate in there for some games at dinner - I gets there early and am waiting when this geezer says " do you want a quick game while you're waiting" - " yea ok" says I and breaks off - and thats the last time I took a shot at anything - 10 mins later and there's me mate grinning his head off, as I'm flabergasted - "Don't you know who that is" says me mate - "no" - "its Hurricane Higgins you plonker"

the two members of staff for many years were Bert, and Roland the One-Eyed slave. as everyone called him.two great old blokes, had many a laugh with them, also had a one-arm bandit the jackpot being three nines if you jiggled the arm you could move the chambers around, dropped a few jackpot did young cashy. p.s. it was a threepenny bit bandit.

Re: Elite Snooker Hall.
It did move around a little, however, was above Redmans in my day ... not that I ever passed over the doorstep mind ya', purely a man's domain.
Alex Higgins frequented this on many occasions for practice against less qualified eager opponents..
