Sorry Alan7554 can't help you at the moment but I am trying to find out a bit more on the Harry Boyle Cup. If Bob Dobsons looking I have had a reply from Mount Pleasant school and I think they have come up with the same as Susie did from the internet.I shall be going to Accy library in the next week or two to see if I can find out anything further.

Re: Harry Boyle Cup

Hi Alan, I think my fathers' medal is approximately that date, which school was your relation playing for may I ask? I think it is quite valuable to be honest, but probably more so to the family of the person it belongs to. ClaytonX I have no idea whereabouts in the house the photo is, but the medal is in the bank vault with all the other jewellery, next time we get something out I'll have a look, and if the photo pops up I'll attempt to post it onsite, thats' the best I can do 'm afraid. Best wishes all Old Saintonian!!!!!!!

Re: Harry Boyle Cup

Hi - I've got two Harry Boyle cup medals dated 1931 and 1933 which belonged to my Grandfather along with some bigger medals with no inscription on from probably late 1930's or early 1940's. Can anyone fill in any more detail please??

Re: Harry Boyle Cup

Thanks Claytonx.
How about Clayton Villa? I have a few photos like these unfortunately the date was removed but I'm guessing they are from the late 1930s.

Re: Harry Boyle Cup

Checkimng the Observers in each May would probably help date these and provide some info on the clubs & the Combination league. The National Football Museum may be able to help too. They still have an office in Preston. Send me a PM if you want to contact them. A mate of mine does research for them.

Might be an idea to put a new post on here asking all the Stanley fans if they know anything about the medal competition

Re: Harry Boyle Cup

I emailed Lancashire Schools Football Ass,they came back to me with the information that Harry Boyle presented a cup to Blackburn Schools FA in 1897 it is still competed for today by Blackburn with Darwen schools FA.

He also presented one to schools in the Rishton,Harwood and Accrington district in the 1920s but not sure if it is still contested for today.

Blakey Moor Sec Modern won the Blackburn cup in 1947. with Bryan Douglas in the team.

The person who emailed this was going on holiday, and will be back in touch nearer the end of the month with possibly more information.
