Re: WHAT WERE YOU MADE TO DO WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG
Thats not bad, we used to argue for hours about whose turn it was to wash up and who had the luxury of being able to dry, many a plate smashed over that! Also when we were kids if our Nan came away with us on our hols me and Lettie had to share a room with her, that was gross!!

Re: WHAT WERE YOU MADE TO DO WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG
My brother and I shared the washing up duties and again there were arguments over who had to wash and who had to dry. At first we thought that washing was easier, but then clocked on that if you were drying then you could pretend to be 'doing something else' then simply put them away after they had 'drip-dried'. If it was his turn to dry I used to make it my business for the evening to pour water over the dishes on the plate rack every 5 minutes to ensure they stayed wet - how sad?

I was the eldest and it was considered my duty to do everything.
I had to do the washing up, go to the wash place, collect coal in a pram, baby Sit, Sweep the back Yard.

Re: WHAT WERE YOU MADE TO DO WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG
Bloody Hell, I remember all this, including the tin bath in front of the fire once a week. I was the last one in out of four of us. Coal Cellers tell me about it. I loved creeping about down ours. I live on Church street in the 60s and it was very dark and dank.
In the late 60s early 70s I remember having to walk up willows lane to school at Green Howarth it was a bloody long way when you only had little legs, when it snowed it was fantastic.
Is there anybody local to Miller Fold, do you remeber Nelson Hill and sliding down it in a carboard box in summer and anything to hand in winter. How about pram wheel go carts.
Its been to long time, THANKS for the laugh.
