I bet you wore a liberty bodice and took your rosehip syrup every morning before you set off for school in your Wayfinders.

i
remember the cafe in the market hall homemade food lovely
the old swiming baths with the cabins round the pool
then a bag of chips from the chippy opps the baths
then would watch the wheels turning at the coal mine to see how long it took to get to the pit bottom
then saturdays at the odeon we come along on a saturday morning knowing its not worth while and members of the teddy boy club we intend to be forgot the rest in the mist of time

No, no, no...the way it went was "We come along on Saturday morning greeting everybody with a smile, we come along on Saturday morning knowing it's not worth while, as members of the Odeon Club we all intend to be good teddy boys when we grow up..." (instead of "citizens")...and some of us did!

I was thinking more of some of the other chaps who went to the Odeon Club and who later went on to attain ted status (quite a few of whom were mates of Cashy's! ). However, as it happens, I do have a pair of brothel creepers (blue suede ones, too!), somewhere in the garage. Thanks for reminding me, Jaysay...might get 'em out and give 'em an airing if the weather improves.
