Yeah, stick it on ebay, you'll get more for it if you remove the bios password first though.

Re: bios password

did you buy it knowing the Bios Password was not included?
If this information was not given to you by the seller, then you would be entitled to return it and get a full refund.

I had a look at the link that Mick gave and it is not supposed to be suitable for laptops.

Re: bios password

Removing the CMOS Battery or putting a jumper on the clr CMOS for a few seconds-- I think it may be suitable solution(just dont quote me on that) it could be that it is a lot more difficult to do with a laptop. I have never had to take one apart so I don't know. An example: I modified my sony PS2 with a ghostcase and that was extremely hard work to put back together. The original xbox1 however is easier to take apart and put back together than a tower.

Does it have a windows operating system that loads up? (perhaps you could flash the bios)

Some bios have backdoor passwords. Have you tried dell or Dell or DELL

I had a very similar problem with an Acer laptop. It turned out to be a bug in the laptop/bios and Acer refused to admit it. Turned out lots of people on-line said that the password set itself.

Re: bios password

Dell laptops are notorious for storing their passwords in non volatile ram so the usual remove the cmos doesn't work. Id be asking for the password or a refund. Dell can send a reset code but you need proof of ownerships and jump through a million hoops.
