Re: Laptop Advice

My techie says it is good for the money, he doesnt like vista, in fact he doesnt like microsoft full stop, but he says this will be good for an average user, and is a good price.

Re: Laptop Advice

If I was after a laptop I would be very tempted with an Asus EEEPC

Re: Laptop Advice

That's a bit steep for an Asus EEEpc. Got mine for £275 with XP pre-loaded.

Re: Laptop Advice

Depends on the CPU, the one Neil linked to is the new ATOM based one.

Re original question. Looks OK as a basic computer, don't expect to play 3D games on it though as teh Gfx chipset is rubbish.

TBH you should start considering what tuning you can do of the system when you get it. By turing off lots of useless stuff that starts by default you can make quite a difference to teh responsiveness of it. ( deja vu as this is what we used to do 10 years ago, To give XP its due it was decently tuned out the box, Vista has progressed us back 10 years IMHO)

Re: Laptop Advice

Its also the new 10" screen 80Gb version, thats why it is more than the 7" or 9" versions. It has a much better keyboard and build quality.

I would like to play with one to see if they are fast enough for what I would use it for.

Ian, any idea what a 1.6Ghz Atom compares with?

Re: Laptop Advice

This is what i ended up getting yesterday.

Buy FUJITSU SIEMENS AMILO LI-2735 | 15.4" widescreen laptop - Laptops | Comet

I thought the specs where quite good for that price and having been persuaded for about an hour in the store i purchased it. I think its great price for money. What do you think? Better then the advent?
