Need a techy's input
Never had a laptop, need one for uni.
I'd prefer one with XP due to the horror stories of Vista and never having tried Linux before. Only other spec: cheap! Oh and must have a decentish memory for uni work. Can I get someone-in-the-know's opinion on this one? comes with Vista but only has half the RAM needed to run it. fine if you are going to bin Vista and install XP but if not budget another 30-40 quid for a RAM upgrade.
Won't play even oldish games like Half life as the graphics chip is rubbish at 3D. whilst you are looking for "uni" now you need to consider what its going to be doing as well. Abysmal battery life, if they quote 1.2 hours expect 45 mins tops. Not really a good laptop IMHO. I know you haven't a lot to spend but I think this would seriously disappoint you. the one i'm on at the moment is an acer aspire one, its fair dudey apart from me keep missing the space bar that is, its only 10'' in length, i may have to invest in one myself, this in on LINUX i doubt Richard will put windows on it seen as he's a fan of linux
