Why you should consider NOT upgrading your Browser

There is a new feature appearing with Firefox 3 and IE 8 that you should seriously consider boycotting if you have children. As most of you aren't interested in technical details I'll skip to the point.

The new browsers come with a "Privacy" mode where your browsing history is NOT recorded anywhere( well, not without forensic tools to recover). Not surprisingly this has been termed 'Porn Mode'

for most people this isn't an issue, for those of you who rightly keep an eye on where your children surf by checking their history this effectively would mean you have no idea if they are going places you would rather they didn't.

Just thought I would give you all a heads up in case you wish to make an informed decision on this.

Re: Why you should consider NOT upgrading your Browser

Sounds like a good idea, I wont need to keep deleting my history before the kids get home

On a serious note, can you not turn the feature off? In the current versions there is nothing to stop the kids deleting the history themselves. You can delete only the bits you want in Firefox and leave the rest so it does not look suspicious to the old ones.

maybe they should just password privacy mode

Re: Why you should consider NOT upgrading your Browser

you can delete in current mode but it would look sus that there is nowt there, you also need to know all the places to look for evidence to make sure ist all gone . This allows some tabs to be 'tracked' and some to be private. therefore it would look like little johnny had been a good boy when in reality he's probably making tents all nights to pictures off BigJugs.com
