England 1 Japan 1

So now we have sunk as low as this. Playing at home, we cannot even beat the Sushi Bar brigade. How much more pathetic can the England team become? How much further down the table of rank incompetance do we have to go?

Lets start by getting rid of that pretty boy half-wit, Beckham. He has neither footballing talent nor leadership skills; his contribution to the English game over the last 6 years or so has been no more than that of the mongrol dog who runs on the field at half time and manages to s**t in the penalty area. Time to pack your boots, Beckham.

Now lets turn to that other clown, Eriksson. Can someone please tell me exactly what purpose he serves, other than for hime and his girlfriend to entertain us in the tabloids? What his his record? Sweet sod-all. I am at a loss to understand.

So what other changes would any of you lot make? Come on, tell all....don't be shy.

Kirkland will replace James when he is fit again, Gerrard or Terry would be my choice for captain, sorry Tealeaf but now is not the time to get rid of Sven, lets see what happens and if we fail again then lets relace him.

Re: England 1 Japan 1

It seems that Sven is stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea - if he doesn't play Lampard then he gets slated. I would (in my limited fooball knowledge) play Gerrard and Butt in Centre Mid (Butt holding role) and then Becks on the right and Dyer on the left. The problem with England is that we have too many good centre mids and not enough challenging right and (esp.) left midfielders. Also I would play Scholes just behind Owen. Rooney is good yet he isn't that good yet.....of course, this is just opinion and I am probably wrong....the defence is the best that we can pick from.

I wouldn't worry too much...no player wants to put too much into a friendly and sustain an injury that would rule em out of the Euro's. If I remember rightly we did bad against the warm-up oppositon before Euro 96.....and look what happened there?!

I think there is something missing in the squad. They don't have enough courage to push forward yet they don't have a defence. I think after Euro 2004, sven should go! But I don't think he will.

Re: England 1 Japan 1

It's a cliche I know but there are no such things as easy international games anymore. As recent as early 90's/80's we would be expected to give Japan a damn good thrashing...and would have. This simply isn't the case anymore. With the exception of Brazil WC2002 we generally perform better when we play the top teams...that said it would be good to hammer the 'lesser' teams now and then.

I must disagree with the comments re:Beckham. Whilst he is not the footballing behemoth that people make him out to be he is a damn good player...although to my mind Gerrard is far more important to the team...can't understand why Sven insists on playing him on the left...even though he does a good job anywhere on the pitch I think that the side should be built around him and he shouldn't be made to play on the periphary so to speak.

Again...we have too many good central midfielders....and Heskey should start instead of Rooney...(I know I will get grief for saying that!!!)
