Barrow footballer has become the first ever footballer jailed in Britain for an on pitch assault.

That Cotterill is a complete thug who deserves everything he gets - the incident was a disgrace, I know injuries of all kinds can happen in football but this didn't happen by accident in the course of the game, it was an off the ball assault on the Bristol player.

Definitly a fair punishment, in my opinion he's lucky its not more because he broke the lads jaw in two places and now he it has to be supported by metal pins for the rest of his life. GBH

I can see where some people are coming from when they say what happens on a football pitch stays on a football pitch but this over the line...

Yup, against Raith in '94.

This kind of behaviour goes on every week people, it ain't anything new.
There's loads that should be in jail every Saturday.
