Happy Birthday Ford Cortina

50 today.

First car was a 1963 Lime Green Ford Cortina.

Could strip it down, put all the bits in a bag, shake it up, and put 'em all back together in an afternoon with the help of a haynes manual...ok i'm exaggerating but not by much, it was like a meccano set under the bonnet.

Spent many a sunny sunday, patching and applying filler to the old rustbucket.

Have problems finding the damn bonnet release on some of todays cars, wouldn't know where to start taking the engine out

Just heard the designer on the Radio ... he was only in his mid-twenties when he designed it ! Very modest man.

The Cortina was a great car, The Mark 3 was me favourite.
