Beatles Or The Stones

Okay then,in your opinion who was the better of these two biggest bands of all time? For me The Stones had the edge in the rock stakes but The Beatles were the more innovative.Have The Stones outlived their stay?Did The Beatles split too soon?Where Lennon/McCartney better songwriters than Jagger/Richards?.What do you think?

Re: Beatles Or The Stones

Based on longevity it has to be the Stones. Saw them in Berlin during the summer and it was an experience I will never forget.

They must have been better at tree hugging than Keith Richards. He tends to fall out of them

Re: Beatles Or The Stones

The Beatles any day. The early stuff is a bit too 'I love you, you love me, doobidoobidoo' and the later stuff is one big trip but, for me, the best songs ever written were by them around 65/66 like Ticket To Ride, Yesterday and Eleanor Rigby.

The Stones had some great rock n roll songs but the longevity wrecked it for me as with The Who. They should've broke up decades ago. The new stuff is embarassing, they're just a business.

Re: Beatles Or The Stones

love them both but the STONES win by a mile, jagger/richards a great songwriting team, lennon/mcartney good also but would argue lennon the much stronger of the two,on the basis that after the split mcartney wrote some real dirge wheras lennon some classics. saw the stones at the hyde park free concert also 20 years later so no they hadnt outlived their stay then certainly, only saw the beatles once they were ok, so on live performance the stones won again in my book.
