Foreign Bands
On occasions, during my travels through the internet, I come across bands from other countries who are as yet unknown (or virtually) in the U.K. but deserve a listen.
The web site that I upload to is: http://www.badongo.net/
The first band I would like to introduce is from Finland and are so unique. Rock, Metal, Goth, Alternative, Folk, Operatic! Just a few of the ways of describing this band!! Unfortunately, the female lead singer Tanja Turunen has now left the band to go solo but they have left oodles of brilliant music on the net to catch up on if you have never heard of: NIGHTWISH

Re: Foreign Bands
Another band that may tickle your fancy is from the East Coast of America. I consider them to be similar in sound to "Busted" but don't let that put you off. They are far more musicly talented! - and class themselves as "Punk" Give a listen to A New Found Glory

Re: Foreign Bands
New Found Glory are even worse that Blur.
A really great foreign band are 'The Soundtrack of Our Lives' stomping rock n roll, and even though english is not their first language they have a clever use of lyric.

You must realise Shaker that music is quite personal and that many Americans are buying Glorys albums and my idea in starting up this thread was to allow others to listen to the music and form their own opinion.
I have listened to "The Soundtrack of our Lives" ( For those interested, Here is a track, "Sister Surround")
They are a very accomplished band but I found the vocals a little weak - and what struck me most on all three tracks that I listened to was that the sound was so early seventies! That was probably 10 years before you were a twinkle in your dads eye
I could pick out Floyd, Yardbirds and the track "Bigtime" definitely had shades of Hawklords. (That was Hawkwind when they went through a musical era for about 3 months ) I think their sound will grow on me and will certainly be listening to them again - Thanks

Re: Foreign Bands
I apologize Busman, of course my statement was but an opinion - an opinion shared by many - but nevertheless just opinion.
If you have found TSOOL's vocals lacking sometimes (which is understandable on the behind the music album) check out 'Confrontation Camp' growling vocals reminiscent of bon scott of AC/DC and a killer guitar riff which will rock your musical socks off.

Re: Foreign Bands
Thanks for that, Busman. Hope somebody out there likes 'em!
Another Stateside favourite of mine is the Diplomats of Solid Sound www.thediplomats.org A great 60's style soul/rhythm 'n' blues hammond organ instrumental band from the mid-West. Got all three of their CDs and, again, another band I would like to see over here. Very popular with mods. Shakey, I think they may be one of the few areas where my taste and your taste overlap!
