Exclamation I Really Object

Every year at Christmas there's a new Monsters of Rock album out and every year they say "get it for Dad" ...... WHAT? My Dad would have a fit if I turned up with a rock cd for him at Christmas (he's more an El Divo type ) and mthead can take it or leave it.

That leaves just little old me Are Mums not allowed to like rock music?

Re: I Really Object

Maybe it's supposed to help us with ideas of what to buy for Dads because men are so difficult to buy for.

BTW I also like rock.

Re: I Really Object

Yeah you could be right Willow, but, to me, it's such a sexist comment. It's like that Iceland advert 'for mums'. Dads not allowed to do the shop are they not

Silly advertisers

That could be seen as sexist implying that Dads haven't got as much shopping sense as Mums so only Mums go there.

Re: I Really Object

Well we know as mums that they don't but we'd never tell dads the that would we

I think it's the same with that advert, it's just put a bit of a bee in my bonnet. They can successfully advertise a rock CD without making it sound male orientated. The advert with mum and dad playing their air guitars much to the embarrassment of the kids is a good one.
