Thought The Stranglers were a great band.Saw them live in 77 or 78(No More Heroes) period.I kind of lost interest after either La Folie or Meninblack but the album Aural Sculpture from the mid 80's is well worth alisten(features Skin Deep & No Mercy).Can't say what theyre like without Cornwell cos i have'nt heard them.Probarbly irrelevant but in the late 70's i knew a bloke who shared a cell in Pentonville with Cornwell when he was sentenced for heroin possession,and he reckoned a nicer bloke you couldnt meet.

Isaw them in mid 90's in Bosnia when i was in the army.
They were doing shows for services out there and it was quality!!!!
I got banned from drinking for the rest of my time out ther on the back of that.
me and a mate got naked during "No More Heroes". nuff said

Way to middle of the road for me, back in the days when I could gob from the back of a concert hall on to the stage.

Not bad, but a very derivative band. A large part of their organ-dominated sound was copped from the Doors (who, in turn, lifted it from US garage bands like the Seeds and Question Mark & the Mysterians). Listen to the Stranglers' version of "96 Tears", then listen to Question Mark's original and you'll see what I mean.

i suspect wyn means they CRUCIFIED 96 tears, but he is more diplomatic than me.

Class group,alwys been one of my favs since a kid.The Raven album is pure magic.Prefered the earlier'Punk' stuff than the Golden Brown and Strange little girl era's.Peaches for me is thier classic record.Hugh Cornwall was class a couple of years ago unplugged at the Osie Civic.

i love stranglers and after all these years i finally went to see them at manchester uni fri 13th oct then preston uni sat 14th. jj burell was ace on base and singing some tunes.new singer guitarist was excellent.the heavy bass is fantastic and the banter with the fans isgreat too see.i recommend anyone who likes stranglers to see them next tour. o and bring underpants/knikers to throw on stage during a certain one of the new tracks
