William Shatner's new album

I'm kind of in shock as I'm writing this. I picked up William Shatner's new album for a laugh (anyone who hasn't heard the god-awful 'Transformed Man' needs to NOW) because it had a cover of Common People by Pulp.
I'm shocked because... It's good. It's *really* good.

The site is here with a few clips if anyone's interested.

Re: William Shatner's new album

William Shatner = Captain Kirk. He's tried his hand at singing a few times. He released an album a couple of decades back called 'The Transformed Man' that's generally recognised as one of the worst albums ever made. It feature him doing spoken word covers of 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds' and 'Mr. Tambourine Man'. It tends to be quite big with students who pick it up and laugh at it. He's pretty much the same with this album, but he seems to have found a way to make songs that actually sound good with him over the top.
