Re: 2017/18 Prediction League; Game 38 v Vegan Greenpeace United (home)

Twists And Turns On The Prediction League Podium As Stanley March On

A double report after a double in my absence – oh happy days ……. I’ll attach both tables in case anyone’s following the detail with that much interest .

Luton 1 Stanley 2

To begin at the beginning with the big one, a 2-1 win which knocked leaders Luton off their perch . A note of caution was discernible in the predictions for this one, with only 14 expecting the run to continue , 9 on the fence and 4 contemplating what they saw as an inevitable blip . The faithful were duly rewarded , 5 picking up maxis, 3 taking 4 points and 6 content with the basic 3.

In reporting the maxis we must consider, firstly,
Wynonie Harris
achieving this not, as suggested, for the first time ever, but for the first time since 31st Oct 2015 (1-0 win at Leyton Orient), and being rewarded with a small step up from 15th to 13th.

Next, more significantly but less startlingly, Mab and Leylandii, who knocked Tom D and Outback Ozzy off their perches, rising from 3rd and 4th to 1st and 2nd respectively. At this point, the Top 3 are all on 90 points and separated only on countback. Mab has 6 maxis, Leylandii 5 and Tom D 4. The last two maxis were Nige B, climbing from 14th to 11th, and Proccy Fan, up from 23rd to 21st.

The Top Ten remained the Top Ten, with AndyD pushing MonkeyHanger down from 5th to 6th and AccyMad similarly relegating Div3North from 9th to 10th. Drawmongers, pessimists and no-shows were obviously liable to lose ground, but apart from MonkeyHanger were mostly clustered together in the middle of the table, so merely dropped further away from the leaders.

Stanley 3 Forest Green Rovers 1

And so the bandwagon rolled back to the Crown for the visit of the Vogons, a potential banana skin if there ever was one , but one which failed to dent the vision of the promised land . Predictive confidence was back regardless, with only Kiwi John doing the decent thing and employing reverse psychology by going against the flow. Being 12 points clear of his next astern meant this sacrifice cost him nothing , except now only being 8 points clear (in 25th ).

6 maxis included Tom D and Outback Ozzy, but not Mab or Leylandii who each took 4, so Tom climbed back on top of the podium a point clear of the rest, and Ozzy into 3rd spot. 2nd, 3rd and 4th are now separated on countback, 2nd level countback in the case of 3rd and 4th. At the bottom of the Top Ten, AccyMad and Div3North took maxis to climb above DaveinGermany and Cashman into 7th and 8th. Little else to report, except ProccyFan’s no-show dropping him a couple of places from 21st to 23rd.

9 games to go. 9 maxis for Kiwi, currently in 25th, will see him reach Tom D’s current score, and beat him on countback, if Tom gets nowt from 9 ………... Everyone above Kiwi has got more of a chance, but it could be down to the Top Ten, realistically.

So after an unwanted break , it’s roll on a potentially season-defining Easter weekend, Good Friday at Mansfield then at home to Notts County on the Monday. Oh my goodness ……4 points from those 2 good enough? Even 2 points maybe? 6 would really make us look like champions-elect …… Nice of them to draw on Saturday, wasn’t it?

On Stanley On!!
