Given the number of games postponed last season because of waterlogging, it's been suggested elsewhere they are going to plumb it in backwards to suck the water out :)

Dont think so but havent been up to see, worryingly it wont be mud they will be playing on it will be rock hard as well, altho been assured that the sprinkler system is in place & working, so could be a muddy game, thats depending if burnley wanna play on it - their pitch is a week in front of ours & even they have moved their pre season matches elsewhere. Tho i think with stanley is they wouldnt want to turn down the income, income before the pitch it seems, tho surely playing on a pitch that isnt ready would only wreck the work done:confused::confused::rolleyes:

That would be 4 days before start of season, no way would they do that.

Out of curiosity, I know the sprinkler system isn't a hosepipe but what happens if they bring in a hosepipe ban in the next week or so ? would they be allowed to fill up the tanks ?

Buzzer told me the contactor said there will be grass to cut in about two weeks the big problem is getting enough water on it, typical really just when we need some rain what happens "NOWT" ah well we will have to wait and see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but other issues are the control room and a million other jobs that need to be done as around the ground itself is like a tip so please feel free to donate an hour or two of time if you can spare it, Im sure all help would be gratefully received, barriers on away need painting, all the old advertising hoardings need removing, all the walkways need sweeping and the list goes on

You have to look down the list at the 19th May

Stanley Stadium gets a lick of paint with Intraining

http://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk/g...%20picture.jpgAccrington Stanley Football Club have begun work on the stadium, painting all the terraces and iron works over the summer period and to help them in this mammoth task they have enlisted the help of national training provider Intraining (formally TWL).

With head offices based in Sheffield and over 80 sites across the UK, including centres in Burnley, Hyndburn and Pendle, Intraining provides a number of programmes which offer employability skills and help to get people back into work.

Neala Barker Operations Manager at Accrington Stanley said "We would not be able to complete such a labour intensive task without the support of Intraining, we will have a team of 12 volunteers here for approximately 6 weeks. The team have proven to be really hard working and are all proud to be involved with the project.

"The club is supported tremendously by the local community and individual volunteers throughout the football season, and this time of the year is our chance to return the favour back to the community. We are thrilled that the club can be used as a platform for individuals to gain valuable experience that will help them back into employment."

Presumably they ran out of time. The best thing to help the pitch is to arrange for 50 volunteers to turn up all next week to paint the away end. You can guarantee doing that it will pee down all week :)

Yes, like upgrading the capacity to 5,000 + so that the club can remain a league club. Oh and keep the promises of last season, new security post, cover over the coppice end etc etc etc

Re: Pitch

Yeh kids had been on it down near the changing rooms looked like they had been playing football on it luckily not a lot of damage and it seems to be recovering well, the green patches are getting bigger every day and the middle of the pitch is now showing signs of growth, its a little further behind because off a lack of water due to the sprinklers not working properly but the three middle ones have now been replaced.
The lads doing the painting have now started painting the walls round the pitch ready for the new advertising boards going up,im up there next week sorting out the toilet facilities all round the ground, repairs are ongoing to the floor in the gents on the clayton end,the saftey barriers on the coppice end have had a coat of paint and hopefully all the rubbish from the concourse and carpark areas of the ground will be dispatched into skips.
