Super Sean, Super Sean, Super Sean McConville...!!!!!!!!!!!!

24 hrs since the game last night, so had time to reflect.

I have to say that last night was probably the best performance in a Stanley shirt for Super Mac :)

Not just his superb passing - the pass before the one for Kayden's goal was even better - but his chasing down of the ball and sheer determination to win/keep possession was fantastic :)

I just hope that the awful bully boy tactics will not rob us of our 'Captain fantastic' at the weekend.....

If he “failed a fitness test” you’d think he was close to being free of injury,

I have my doubts about the Stanley physio after seeing him stretching our loanee keeper’s pulled hamstring at Morecambe though.

Actually if you are implying central midfield hasnt been fantastic then I can't disagree.

Scotty Brown has, in the last 10-15 games, upped his game and made a difference in as much as it no longer seems a problem area anymore.

Crown Grounder 13-03-2018 17:56

Re: Sean Mc

Without a doubt, our success is down to good performances all over the pitch. However, since the start of the new calendar year, our defence and keeper have been outstanding. Keeping clean sheets and not conceding late goals. Improved concentration and a new central defensive partnership have been the key. We've learned better game management and can now win by one goal. We couldn't do this earlier in the season.

Lord Didsbury 13-03-2018 21:09

Callum Johnson’s been a good un too. I was really sceptical of him, but he’s very reliable and I can see him being very good next year.

'Lowest of the low slagging off the Captain.'

How's it slagging the captain by saying his presence in the team has helped?

I rate Coneeley and point being made was that our iffy run coincided with his injury.

I’m not sure you can make a link between Conneely and our form. He’s only been back for half of our good run and he’d been missing for a few games before our run of defeats occurred.

It was a serious question. I've never looked at him as captain material. I don't see Sean as someone who would lead by example when the chips are down - and there will be times during this season we will really have to dig deep.
That's not a criticism by the way just don't see him as that type of player.

I'm with 28 on this. Sean McMarmite was a vastly improved player last season, his contribution to the team effort was fantastic, and long may it last.
But I've never thought of him as captain material, even in his "new improved formulation", except as a stand-in for Mr. Conneely.

,,,, you must have missed more games 28 because he captained the side from the Wycombe home game 21/11 until mr. Conneely was fit again which was mid February away at Coventry , during which we had an unbeliaveble run. Do you go to the games ?

Lighten up.
I was being facetious.
However to put you right stats man you may wish to consider who captained the side on 16th and 23rd December.
Do I go to the games ........ haha ! One or two.
Anyway back to topic no I don't consider Sean to be needed to be appointed as skipper.
The unbelievable run had nothing to do with who wore the armband. Team effort.
Did you go to Lincoln - 16 December ? You might recall Sean getting a broadside from Coley for ducking out of the physical battle and getting subbed after an hour.

Were they the 2 losses to Lincoln an Crawley 😀! Game of opinion mate like everyone says , just your opinion is biased towards a certain mr.clark an , mr Conneely , whoever is appointed captain I will get behind 100 per cent , but I think Sean certainly excelled in that role last season like others have pointed out.

Clark and Piero are different players.
Piero is a get half a yard and get a cross in,Clarke is more direct, cuts inside more and creates more.

Tend to agree, 28, but he was average in a team that had a lot of outstanding performers.
Also, don't know if relevant, but I thought McMarmite looked a little heavy-legged in the warm up and wondered if he was carrying a slight knock.
He showed cool composure with the goal, though.

No loyalty to the fans , the club and especially John and Jimmy! He was a nothing before and a nothing now! Good riddance!!

Hes really annoyed me since we gave him his break and would rather go down a league for money !! Tbh , Stockport must be delerious ! In my honest opinion he really isn't that good of a player! He got goals last season but most of time he looked like he could be assed and cost us MASSIVELY in the playoffs!!

Who would have thought 7 years and 12'000 replies later, most of us would be praising Macca, as opposed to condemning him............

On saying that, I imagine most of the Clayton End by me, do not use this Forum :D :D
