Condolences to Gordon's family. Stalwart of the late 50s squad.
How times have changed...his appearances in his last two season were limited because of his National Service call up. It was a late call-up because, as a miner, he'd previously been exempt!

You're right choirboy, Pietro's still struggling with the injury that's kept him out since Christmas - a hip injury I think, some of their fans were saying they don't think he'll be back this season

According to Wikipedia Matty Pearson has made less than 10 appearances for Barnsley.

Anyone know if this is due to injury or is he just out of favour?

Would love to see him back.

Both.
However you have to be honest.
Matty is not a Championship player.
Unless Matty was prepared to take a cut in wages no way is he coming back - in fact I can’t see Coley being interested.

I wouldnt be massively interested in Roberts as his wages would probably be way higher than what his age and legs could bring to our squad. But maybe he'd be open to a coaching role as well as registering as a player?

Noticed a bit of trivia with that one.

Every Wembley play off winning team had a Stanley connection this year, apart from League 2 where we won the league ourselves.

Jay Harris for Tranmere in the Conference
Marek Rodak for Rotherham in League One
Marcus Bettinelli for Fulham in the Championship

Not to mention Omar and Toto with the Shrews. Omar seemed to get the blame for Rotherham's goal's, though.

To me we got good value for him when he went to Barnsley. We paid nowt to get him from Halifax. (free agent)

It will be interesting to find out if we did have a sell on clause ......... because Barnsley have a nice one in the contract with Luton.

Twenty Eight 27-06-2018 15:20

Re: Former Players!

"Speaking to the club’s official website, Reds CEO Gauthier Ganaye hinted at a sell-on clause as part of the deal too, saying: “We’ve made the decision as Matty is wanting this season to play week in, week out, which we can understand and we were happy to help him satisfy that need as well as protecting ourselves as a club. “Despite him being here just a short time, Matty was a great lad around the club and we feel this is a mutually beneficial move. “It was in our interests as a club to get a good deal, which we certainly have done by making a profit on the player and also retaining an interest in his future.”

Its Jason Oswell that Morecambe have signed from Stockport . 29 goals last season in 45 games and we had to beat off competition from Port Vale and Lincoln among others apparently.

Then yesterday we signed Andrew Tutte from Bury and this time we beat off competition from Oldham and Carlisle among others to sign him.

It does seem as though our new owners are giving Jim something to work with at long last !
