it always surprises me how players get paid off or released down here get contracts at scottish premier league sides. heaven knows what the standard up there is in their division 2. zanzala could even be cowderbeaths new marquee signing.

If ever there was proof that some Managers talk absolute crap.

"He did ever so well in League One last year," said boss Chris Beech.

"Before that, when he was breaking through at Derby, he was a player with the physical attributes, pace and power - added to the knack of getting a goal - that made him stand out."

Would have been a nominal fee for an under 24 player out of contract if he was offered a deal at similar or better terms.

Wouldn't take Ben back, we have Zehn coming through who has impressed and I would even say should be ahead of Sama in the pecking order, also Ogle's loan ended this month and he can cover at left back.

it would if he could actually play in more than one position. anywhere but a left sided central defender in a back four he was poor.

Still think Doniecian might be a possibility can play right/left full/wing back or anywhere across the back 3 backs of pace going forward, Mohammed good prospect but can he play anywhere across the back Ogle can see him going out again not sure if is future is at Stanley and McGuire seems to have dropped right down the pecking order.

I'm a big fan of Janoi, great player and a nice guy (and is one of the funniest people I've ever met!) - fits in well with the lads and knows the club.
Is it worth having him long-term though. 6month loan when contract ends in summer and he could/should go elsewhere, is it worth it? Last time he could only join us on loan as had already played for us and the **** of Suffolk.

Never obsessed with anyone just Doniecian is the only concrete rumour I have personally heard inbound and outbound Savin is the other rumour quite who John has in mind could surprise everyone but they must be with clubs and not free agents as in his interview the couple he wants he was in negotiations with relevant clubs.

You do remember that Janoi left to go to a Championship team, making us 750k (rumour) but for whatever reason it hasn’t worked out for him at Ipswich. Many of their fans seem to think Paul Lambert didn’t want Janoi from the start!

I’m not saying I would or wouldn’t like Janoi back BUT surely if Janoi does sign, why not loan players like Joe Maguire out and try and save a few quid on wages that way?

He came back into a side that personally I thought really struggled at times last season as said it's a rumour but this side is confident and playing well would perform better with this lot, of course there are hundreds of players out there but they have to be available, affordable, fit the Stanley mould and they have to want to come.

there might be, but we cannot discuss players we know nothing about. its something fans of all clubs do when there is a possibility of a decent ex player coming back. the big thing in your favour is that when players do come back they are rarely as good as they were when they left. it took sean a while for a start and he,s been more succesful than most.

I find this a bit strange considering both Plymouth and allegedly Stanley were putting in cash bids, and I know Plymouth's did not reach the expectations of the Tractor boys , I would have thought they would have been pleased to offload him, although I am certain Fleetwood would not have asked for assistance in paying his wages.

Don't know about Stanley offering money but Plymouth offered £50,000 turned down, Ipswich paid us £750,000 and with the new rules on salary cap and limited players over 21 in your squad Ipswich have a one year contract extension to take if they wish so best of both worlds for them is a loan.

Thanks for the link Baldy! This is a great account of Dean’s career. I think I saw virtually all of his games for Stanley. He was a super player, when we had three amazing wingers from which we could select any two from three, covering injuries too. Dean Calcutt, Rory ‘the diver’ Prendergast and Russell Payne. All three of these lads were capable of ‘skinning’ the best of full backs but also of scoring super goals and providing a continuous supply of chances for Paul Mullin and Lutel James. What a great period that was!:theband:

One of those players I will not forget whom has had a big part in are journey. His goals and performance in the later part of 2012/3 season kept us up. The goals against Rochdale and Bristol Rovers particularly stick out. Along with him scoring against Morecambe when we beat them 5-1 the following year.
