Oh no!

An Audi TT and a Toyota Avensis Estate in collision....
Between J22 and J23.
Thankfully nobody seriously injured.....
Should be cleared fairly soon.

We got there for second half. Great result Mansfield caused us problems without having many shots on our goal. We saw last 10 minutes out well again. It's a familiar pattern how in tight games we are grinding out wins. Thought Richards-everton's strength was useful at the back. Mcconville and kee kept hold of ball late on well as well. Whole team kept it shape well. Mansfield fans kicked off outside abit unnecessary.

16 points guarantees the title

Yes that happened however in the great scheme of things not a hanging offence but credit to the stewards they were not heavy handed, dealt with the situation and were a breath of fresh air compared to the knuckle scrapers that we've had to endure there on previous visits

Mansfield-biased, naturally, but shows how good Aaron and our defence are. And how poor Mansfield's shooting was.

The stewards were good lads.
When it got very heated outside they let me take Jordan’s family including ladies round to the players entrance by walking round the pitch.
Not sure the trouble causers we’re actually at the game.
Hope the Accy fan with the nasty thumb dislocation is ok.

Re: Stags Match Thread

As for the match..... I didn’t enjoy it that much. I felt nervous throughout as soon as they had a player sent off. It suddenly became ours to chuck away.

Thought we were very poor in the first half and then much better second. Yet again, though, we do seem to always manage to be tighter as a team than the opposition. Always just good enough. Coleman must take massive credit for this. A master strategist.

A few notable mentions:
Scott Brown - again, making a big difference with his energy.
Callum Johnson - I really like him. Each game he seems to improve. He’s starting to get past defenders more easily.
Big Ben - looked shaky and out of position first half, much better second. Can’t have been an easy game for him.
Jimmy Dunne - one day he’s going to start scoring loads of goals from corners. At the moment he’s frustratingly unable to apply the killer touch. Thank god Seamus took the one in the 60th min.

Finally, they should have been down to 9 men. The blatant arm in Jackson’s face when he was racing clean through was obvious to all but ref and linesman.

Twenty Eight 31-03-2018 15:21

Re: Stags Match Thread

How you can have notable mentions and not put Hughes on the list is beyond me.
He was immense yesterday against another centre forward adept at using a crafty elbow (ask Seamus another shiner).

Good to hear but it's just a shame the rest of our fans weren't given the same consideration instead of being faced with the ambush from those antagonistic Mansfield 'fans'
At Luton, it may have been frustrating for some to be locked inside after the final whistle but at least everyone was kept safe until the police arrived to diisperse the trouble makers
Even if those involved hadn't attended the game, surely the stewards should have been informed what was waiting outside the stadium for our fans to come out to & acted accordingly

You're right but that's a question for Mansfield to answer, at the end of the day whoever makes the decisions about crowd safety got it wrong & should be held accountable. I know of a few who will be sending complaints in, I just hope they get acted upon.

CS ( club security game,) with Police Spotters

Police are only summoned if an issue.

IF a game is deemed to be Cat A; home club pays. Lets say a "normal" match income at ASFC; the game wouldn't be worth playing; hence us being on course for 4 years with a formal police presence for League games

In the pre-match intel ASFC away don't pose an issue, so no need for a police presence.

It's not the Stanley away fans that has been the issue but some Luton and Mansfield HOME fans that can't take a defeat without behaving like morons.
Wasn't there something on another thread implying the reason Mansfield games are al ticket is nothing to do with visiting fans but to try and prevent their so-called fans getting into the away end.

There were also a lot of new young supporters that I didn't recognise.

Don't claim to know everybody but dozens of people without any colours on entered the seats with beer bottles in their hands just as the 2nd half started

We're waiting for the CCTV footage from Mansfield and Lancs police ( who did film so of the post match incidents) to see IF anybody can be recognised.

How did that happen if there are stewards ?

Mr T 01-04-2018 18:58

Re: Stags Match Thread

The steward was poor; but was not SIA so wasn't really his remit.

When supervisors picked up on the issue people were challenged.

Easy to miss a bottle in a pocket; on the bigger games empty beer bottles are on the Clayton End.

I stress these weren't wearing any colours and think the vast majority of Stanley fans do show something connected to their club.

Most people who are "regulars" (home and away) are proud of ASFC and show this to the world:)

incidents like those at luton and mansfield really make you glad you are a stanley fan. in our last two failed promotion attemps i,m sure that we behaved in a better way towards opposition fans even with the dissapointment we had to suffer. i suppose some who caused the aggro had been drinking pre match.

Completely false.

Since when did you have to wear a shirt of scarf to be a Stanley fan.

People don’t wear colours for a variety of reasons, not wearing them doesn’t suggest anything

Get down off your horse, DAV0.
I read it that Mr. T wasn't suggesting anything of the sort.
He was simply saying that most of the 'fans' in the away end at Mansfield that he didn't recognise weren't wearing anything that identified them with Stanley and that, in his opinion, most Stanley fans at away games do wear their 'hearts' on their sleeves, heads, or around other parts of their anatomy.

choirboy 03-04-2018 15:47

Re: Stags Match Thread

Over the years, as Stanley have risen through the leagues, our fans have always 'Self Policed' and been superb with only the rarest blips. These have been kicked off by 'imported' over officious stewards who don't know our fans...eg The Newcastle FA Cup Match a few years ago!
There is just one thing that I think our fans need to stop.....The Stupid Flares which could cost us a £20,000 fine!:(
Please stop this lads because we would then truly be the Perfect group of Supporting Fans to match any in the whole world.

Yes, true Twenty Eight.
On Monday our regular stewards at the approach to the Clayton End
were searching those who they didn't recognise and who weren't wearing red colours as the regulars do. They waved us regulars past as they know us well and trust us. The gate was over 3,000 which was super and obviously the extra 1500 Stanley fans probably don't have red scarves, hats etc but it is just great to have them here boosting our usual superb support.:wave8::s_gupjump:s_gupjump
IMHO our Stewards got it just right on Monday.

I’ve been home and away with the club for two season - three with this one - and the club and it’s supporters are a credit.
However and please accept this from a Yorshireman with tongue firmly in cheek. Yesterday I ordered a meat and potato pie and a Bovril at the Clayton End. The lad behind the counter said sorry mate don’t know what you mean. I repeated the order much to the queues amusement.
Then he says what’s bovril we don’t sell it ?
I point to the sign that said Bovril £1. More laughs from the queue. He’s then told by a colleague what bovril is.
He passed me my pie then my bovril then says
Do you want sugar in it mate ?
Now you tell me that wasn’t taking the @@@@@ out of my accent ?
Happy days.

Tha'll larn yer, 28.

Reminds me of an old Jasper Carrot routine about him and his mate inadvertently going in on the Stretford End when United were playing 'Burmingham Citoy'.
They survived the first half without drawing attention to themselves, even when City scored, only for his mate to shout across the half-time queue at the kiosk "Heh, Karret, they've got no keffin' Bovril"

Couldn't agree more. I wonder - if people who care actually know who the numpty is, and if he goes by coach to away games, is there any chance the flares might be left behind in Accy? Or intercepted at the turnstiles at home?

Sorry, Chimer, if you feel I am being unfair towards Dav, but even you will have to admit that his track record is not great! Just could not resist a dig!!
Am prepared to let bygones be bygones, as long as he does not post such b****cks on current posts!

Dav007, I see your strapline is still showing Cashman as 'Supporter of the year, 2014'.

Are you still promoting yourself as 'Prick of the year, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018' ???

Presuming you are no longer (un)official 'Fans Liason Officer' !!

With best wishes
