So, an attacking player standing alone in the opponents’ half isn’t offside unless he ‘interferes’ with play, but if he runs back into his own half in order to ‘interfere’ with play, he’s offside.

try selling such nonsence on a sunday morning or saturday afternoon local games when you,re on your own in the middle. actually tthe majority of football played is that type even without under age kids games. refs are packing up every season in good numbers and these laws do not help due to extra conflict with players. actually when the off side law was changed a number of us were told by a current league referee to basically keep the old system going in local football to avoid dissent.
