Great performance.
Excellent first half.
Scott Brown sub was instrumental. We’d started to lose our way a little but dominated when he came on.
Barlaser return to form helped. Sykes had an excellent match.
Apart from the goal Billy Kee had his best game for ages.
Bloody good atmosphere too.

Agree with LordD, a well deserved victory every man played his part, Sykes got a deserved MoM, Billy is much better imho when we play with 2 upfront,

Yep, excellent fa cup day. We where up for the cup. As the lad predicted on footy focus, kee 1-0 came to fruition. As well as Sykes and kee, Richards -everton was at his strong best. We had a good spell first half with passing and skill from Jordan Clark and barlaser (he gives the ball away a bit to much but I suppose it's a trade off for his vision). The victory was reminiscent of last season's ground out 1-0.

Well deserved MOM to Ross. That superb tackle in the dying seconds saved us all a long trip to Ipswich. He once again proved his rightful place in the opening line up. Keep it up Ross!

Re: Vs Ipswich thread.

Even the arrival of BBC Footie Focus & the loss of half our loan players couldn't spoil Stanley's party today.
In stepped our reserves to show our illustrious Championship visitors how to win an FA Cup match.
There was really no need for any pre-match nerves. We outplayed Ipswich for 45 minutes & should have lead by the break.
The tractor boys must have had the hairdryer from Paul Lambert at half time as they were out a full 5 minutes before the 2nd half kicked-off.
They began to dominate possession & came close to scoring on 2 or 3 occasions but thanks to some excellent defending & woeful finishing never quite managed it.
A truly outstanding performance for our boys to withstand the pressure & then deliver the killer blow.
Sykes deserved his m.o.m. award & Big Ben a medal for rising above everyone to deliver the perfect header onto Billy Kee's noggin.
What a difference a win makes.
Our cup runneth over!

That was more like the performances we have come to expect from Stanley. MOTM could have been at least three including Ross. Sam Finley played a blinder. I noticed no Susa on the bench anybody know why. If he was fit he should be playing a lot more. A well deserved win today. Nice to see Kayden get a warm welcome back. All we need on Monday is a draw against MAN U away.

Was it just me who wasn't too impressed with Mangan today? Hurry back Ozzy for goodness sake - & yet, from his celebrations at the end you'd think he'd been instrumental in the win. Sorry, but still not impressed

Good question - Piero is twice the player Sousa is & he's struggling to get in the team so . . . .

Chrisr 05-01-2019 21:23

Re: Vs Ipswich thread.

Sousa could do a job in a couple of areas, He has even scored so he could play of Billy for a while. Piero is a left winger. He needs a lot of game time to get up to scratch. I hope he does some extra game time soon or he may well be off. As for the money for Kayden and janoi I don't think the club have received it yet.

Well, I was 250 miles away, but to name but two, Dan and Brett commenting for Radio Lancs did actually sound pretty impressed with him. Which given that he hasn't featured since October (?) came as a bit of a surprise really. But from the past I only expect him to get red cards ….. perhaps he's matured :D

Reamer 06-01-2019 00:06

Re: Vs Ipswich thread.

Coley also thought that Mangan had done well in his post game interview but , to be honest I can't really recall him having that many touches on the ball ? He just seemed to run around making a damned nuisance of himself............... as Chimer said, perhaps he's matured. :o:D

Personally i would like Gillingham at the Wham, to get us own back for that abysmal display at seasons start, also for the brass that would bring in, then MAN U or Liverpool Away will do very nicely.;)

Another enjoyable FA Cup day yesterday, nice to see a good crowd on.

Agreed with others, I thought Sykes in particular was magnificent. Definitely deserves a run in the side with all his patience! Also must mention Ripley, what a save that was close to the end of the game.

Surely we deserve a "BIG" gun in Round 4 !!?

Can’t agree with that. He couldn’t break into Barrow’s starting 11.
Maybe the Donacien money might have been delayed .... but not Jackson.
To play Piero you have to drop either Sean or Jordan and that’s not going to happen.

£225,000 we have won so far in 3 rounds all hopefully going on the playing budget which is around £1,100,000 so quite a good increase, next round we need either a winnable home tie prize money £180,000 or a massive away tie none bigger than United were even if you lose you make a lot of money. Probally in the of region of £750,000 would really srengthen our ability to become a force in league 1.

Re: Vs Ipswich thread.

I feel I have to give a mention to Ben Richards Everton been very patient for his chance having loan players in front of you yes maybe not a natural left back but for a lad at 6ft 5ins he has good ball control a bit of pace and his hieght is a constant threat at set pieces Coleman should find a place for him in the side even upfront he could maybe be effective but I think he could do a job in midfield gets a mention on Ipswich,s forum they were impressed.

Chewbacca 06-01-2019 16:28

Re: Vs Ipswich thread.

A decent crowd too taking into account we were being charged double what Burnley and Man City were.

If we drew united away it would be £37, £40 and £45 for SC Holders, LC holders and general sale respectively.

If we draw city away it would be £10 for SC holders and £15 tops.

It is okay getting excited about a big gate but you have to pay for it, and Reading yesterday subsidised their own fans so no on paid more than £30, which is also the maximum you can charge an away fan in PL.

Not really. They could be subbed during a game - for one reason or another.

Not a bad draw, should be close to a sell out regardless of opposition, and could get a win against either. Looking forward to it.

Lord Stiffupperlip 07-01-2019 22:24

Re: Vs Ipswich thread.

We've beaten Burnley in their prime & came close to embarrassing West Ham at their place.
If Newport can beat Leicester, disposing of Southampton or Derby on our turf is not impossible.
It will be another great occasion in front of a sell-out crowd.
What's not to like?
