FA Cup 4th rd Derby or Saints

:) Deserves a thread of its own me thinks ;) Derby County or Southampton at home! Gotta fancy our chances of reaching the 5th rd :) TV live! Ya or nay ? https://accringtonstanley.co.uk/2019...r-southampton/

Well, as I said earlier ….. :D

Think I’d prefer Southampton, more likely to mess around with their selection  and give us a sniff of an upset ;)

Chimer, your theory certainly has more logic when read a second time. :D

I reckon that Coley will rest around nine of our regular first choice players seeing as we have got quite an easy draw in the next round!:tongueout

No chance of T.V. in my view, they dont even know where Stanley is. i see chimers logic with the saints, i prefer derby meself to me thats a more likely sell-out fer us. also reckon derby will change many players, they are after promotion.?

Whether it's Saints or Derby, I bet they're both thinking

I think Derby will win their replay against Southampton, so we'll have a decent turn out from their fans as it's not too far to travel, Frank will be on the touchline in one of his snazzy suits & we'll win the tie with Zanzala scoring the winner as he gets his first hat trick for Stanley - it's in the stars :)
Post match Frank will join the Stanley fans for winner's hour - you heard it here first!

win loose or draw it might attract a few more to turn up and watch us live who then might become regulars if we play well. the newcastle cup game got me to give it a go in the first place. there is nothing like publicity especially when you get paid for it.

I am glad teh club are learing.

It is possible to sell tickets before the opponent is known, even though I was told this was not possible before Nam v Ebbsfleet.

Selling early and advertising the fact on the website has to be worth a few grand.

No doubt the train strike will get extended another couple of weeks and catch out a few away fans. I think attendances would have improved more if it wasn't for 6 months of strike action.

7 games on telly, I had Stanley as 4th pick after Arsenal, Palace and Dons. Even Chelsea go picked but City Burnley could not move due to the Sky game the week after on Tues. £150k aint bad, and the run isn't over yet. Get through some how and another telly game for sure.

Doesn't read like that Mab, just says season ticket & loyalty card holders & people with a ticket stub from the Ipswich game have priority to buy them tomorrow & Monday

Yes, good news for us about the money :). But (bearing in mind everyone's recent comments about the Sunderland away game shifting to Friday :(), very much not good news for any Southampton fans thinking of ticking off another unvisited ground. Probably halve visitor numbers? Obviously not so bad for Derby, if it falls that way.

Going by car, I'd leave at 5 latest. 5 hours drive on a good day, add an hour's contingency for delays between Stafford and Knutsford, half an hour for breakfast, half an hour to find somewhere to park and walk to the ground, half an hour for a pint if everything went well … that's 1230.

He certainly is on fire Cashy, but the Saints are in a battle for their Premiership survival.
I doubt very much they'd risk him getting an injury at the Wham.
Both Saints & Derby have more important priorities than the FA Cup.
Whoever wins the replay, they'll probably field their reserves.
Methinks I smell a another giant-killing upset.

Nathan Redmonds presence is making it a lot more interesting !..
Some good midfielders on show as well... makes me think that our engine room will have quite a task ahead of them whoever wins !... looks like it's the Saints after 72 minutes !.

I watched the whole match on TV and I thought that Southampton were a classy outfit, especially when Redmond came on. The first half was somewhat cagey but the match came alive as soon as they kicked off for the second half. Southampton took their foot of the gas and let Derby back into the match IMHO.
I think that we have a better chance of beating Derby than we would have had against Southampton, subject to what players Derby will, or Southampton would have selected.
Let's hope that Frank plays a few lesser players and then if we play to our best form we could definitely beat them!
I thought that the BBC presenters were a bit dismissive of our chances, suggesting that the winners of last nights match would have an easy time at Accrington Stanley and would be expected to go through with little trouble!

Alright then Stanley fans...………….We are looking forward to coming up to see you on Saturday. I think Frank will pick a strong side as he takes the cup seriously plus we don't have another game until the Saturday after. As I write we have sold 2,000 tickets to away members and season ticket holders who have been to six or more away games. They go on sale to the main season ticket holders tomorrow of which we have 19,000 so I don't think they will reach general sale.
What is your playing surface like? Do you play football on the deck or are you a more direct team? Who are your lads to watch out for?
Hope its a great day out and obviously I am hoping for a Rams win but either way hope we all enjoy.

A great gesture by the way to open your hospitality tent to away fans and have the happy hour etc.. The vast majority of Derby fans are great but like most clubs we do have our share of idiots. I hope you get the right crowd taking you up on your hospitality and not the wrong crowd. Just a little worried I have to say.

Hi Ram, our style of play depends on the size of your defenders, if they are over 6 foot we will play the high ball.

Ha, a bit like us then. In all seriousness though, our back four aren't giants but all over 6 foot except the right back.

How about a radical approach, push Johnson forward and bring Donacien in at full back ?

How about a radical approach, push Johnson forward and bring Donacien in at full back ?
If not its Brown or Conneely.

Worth a try but I suspect it’ll be one of latter options. But whatever happened to Nolan?

For my money if Janois match fit should be a knocking bet for a start.

A fantastic Google Page Ranking job from Stanleyhouse on Derby's forum. Especially, if I remember right, he doesn't get paid to do the job:
