v Southend United - team news

Hello there :) Southend fan here coming over for the game on Saturday. Not my first trip either and looking forward to seeing the ground again.

I couldn't find another thread on the subject so I hope it is okay to start a conversation about the next home game.

Well done on the win last night by the way - 4 goals at home can't be bad and puts an end to your poor run of form. And glad to see you in this division and doing well - importantly doing better than many clubs with far more resources at their disposal.

Billy Kee is a player we know well from the past and of course Armstrong has been around for a while but otherwise I can't say I know a lot about the remainder of the team/squad.

Southend United have been a team that has been fustratingly inconsistent across the season - a list of constant injuries and the odd suspension means that it is been almost impossible to tell what Southend team will turn up on Saturday - the team that beat Bradford away 4-0 or the team that lost to Doncaster last Tuesday 3-0 (and we were very poor). Once again we will be missing at least 5 first team starters for Saturday. On the plus side we finished the game against Portsmouth on Saturday with 5 players who have come through our youth set-up.

On our day we can match most teams in this division and play some good footie as well ........... but we can also be woefully short of drive and attack.

Which reminds me - how is the pitch playing? I understand it is improved (along with the floodlights).

Look forward to hearing from you. :ello:
