Paul Smyth

Congratulations to Paul on his call up to the Northern Ireland squad for their Euro 2020 qualifiers, shame he'll miss our game at Burton as a result though

He was available last night but not used. Begs the question, why is he bothering putting in the effort to find new flat and leaving his partner in London just to sit on the bench to watch inferior players lose to dud teams like Blackpool?

You seem to know much about him, Flanders, so can’t you suggest the answer?

Re: Paul Smyth

He's our only forward who seems to ask questions teams can't answer at this level.
Lack of game time a bit odd.

In the 3-4-2-1 system we seem to be playing he could play as one of the two behind the main striker running beyond the striker.

Can't imagine him getting far in his career with an attitude like that (believable or not....)

On the subject of substitutions (or previous lack of..) - Coley has always said he will play his best 11.

What is Smyth doing in training that isn't getting him into that 11?

He is still young - will also be learning massively from just training with the squad and being apart of the matchday squad.

He will have up's and down's in his career and I'm sure in the long run it will make him a better player.

Plus - he's got his international call up whilst with us that even he said was unexpected after not featuring much for QPR.

I'm sure he will be just fine!

Smyth was in QPRs first team squad last year. Pretty sure he's come to us for game time.

Re: Paul Smyth

Smyth is a great prospect for the future. He is fast and clever. He is small and light hence the bigger defenders knock him off the ball relatively easy. He will have to learn a few new tricks quickly. I don't know why he is on the bench. He is the type of player Billy Kee needs to be running off him. Whatever the line up we need to start winning.

needs a position on the pitch where his speed and cleverness can be more affective and not down the middle where he,ll get no protection from officials when he gets swatted.

Why would he be flat hunting up here? I thought he was highly rated at QPR so will definitely be going back

its a big move up for armstrong from conference football to division 1. think some were or are expecting a bit too much from the lad.

Given Professor Coleman’s predilection for smaller players, Stanley’s players have often been ‘bullied’ if the ref is weak and the opposition see that as a legitimate tactic.
We really miss the likes of Matty Pearson but, if anyone prefers to support a team based on ‘bully boy’ tactics, they’re wasting their time watching Stanley.
