Growing fan base

Looking at my Stanley attendance stats for last few years (maybe some errors!) But the improved support is marked and if we didn't believe already backs sir Andy Holt's strategies.
This year league average home fans 1958, (1591 in 17/18, 1311 in 16/17).
Visitors to wham average 806, (392 in 17/18, 388 in 16/17) admittedly that figure is massively influenced by being in 3rd tier and being new to the division.
Stanley average away following league games 264 (221 in 17/18, 153 in 16/17).

The telling home following is around 23% up on last season and 49% between 16/17 and this season. We may have a tapering or slight drop due to second season up syndrome even so it is a remarkable achievement. I remember Coley saying a few years ago think what we could be sustainable with 2500 regulars. Well this may not be a pipe dream!

I'm being a bit thick here.
Average home fans 1958 plus average away fans 806 means average attendance 2764 ?
Is that right ?
If so not bad at all.

Re: Growing fan base

This is the first season we calculated attendances including non-attending season ticket holders. Between 300 and 400 each match.

Why?

Because that’s how Arsenal play to a half-empty, ‘full house’ every home game.

Must admit I'm a bit gobsmacked by that - we sell 1,000+ season tickets, but 300-400 don't bother using them?

Im a fan of including non attendees. Part of growing a fanbase is creating the illusion that people are missing out. 5000 at The Crown every week raises a few eyebrows ...

Not everybody can use them all the time mate - sure that you are aware of that ;) :)

it is not the same 300, but a rolling 300 :)

:) :) :)

Only too well, Joe, only too well! It just seems a high proportion of our season ticket holders who are absent from a match at any one time. Still, as long as they've paid their dosh... :)

And I do think that some of it is to do with that :)

I know people who buy season tickets, knowing they will not get to every game :)

I know some who get to very few, also :)

Re: Growing fan base

Is the increase due to Andy Holt or simply because we’ve gone up a division?
I remember looking at stats for various teams who have been promoted and it’s the same pattern.
(I greatly admire what Andy has done btw.)

So, when you take into account that our home gates, have had 300-400 absent season tickets added on who weren't being added on last season, they haven't really risen by that much at all. Quite disappointing, really. :(

could be that our league form at home from november onwards and the quality of a lot of these games has put a lot off. being a relative incomer but a regular for 9 seasons i did find last season more than a bit of a drag.
