Optimistically gonna say 1 - 1 in a tough opener.

Proccy Fan has been on the phone and asked that I submit his (usual) 1 - 2 to Stanley as he is without his 'puter at the mo.

First things first, very many thanks Gents for running this again this season :)

Secondly - as always - a great factual opening (and some brilliant personal words!!)

Thirdly - and what we are here for - I think that The Imps will be on a high from last season and we have - almost - a new(ish) set of lads....

Imps 3 - Stanley 1

:) :) :)

Think Jordan needs to improve today chance of point or 3 if he does.

Accybeme And Taypot Hit The Ground Running ……

By landing the only two maxis :):), with the accompanying 5 points, on the first day of the new season. Whether this will help them get over the disappointment of the result is obviously a matter of some doubt – hopefully not! ;)

5 other pessimists :rolleyes: profited from the Reds misfortunes, with Monkey Hanger, Nige B and Stevie R scoring 4 with a single bonus point, and Stanley Josh and Valairian just picking up the basic 3 points. And just 5 of the optimists and drawmongers managed a bonus point. So the top of the table looks like this:

Posn..Player...............P.....W......D......L.. ....BP......Pts
1=…..Accybeme...…….1......1......0...….0...….2...… ...5
1= Taypot 1 1 0 0 2 5
3= Monkey Hanger 1 0 1 0 1 4
3= Nige B 1 0 1 0 1 4
3= Stevie R 1 0 1 0 1 4
6= Stanley Josh 1 0 1 0 0 3
6= Valairian 1 0 1 0 0 3
8= Div3North + 4 1 0 0 1 1 1
13= Everybody Else 1 0 0 1 0 0

Oh booger that looks dreadful :o - I'll see if I can improve it by editing after initial posting.

The +4 on 8= being Ossy Kid, Outback Ozzy, Revived Red and Smudgie. Nobody else troubled the scorer.

Maybe after 9 years it’s worth explaining how the scoring works :D. Basically, you get three points :):):) if you forecast the correct result, i.e. Stanley to win, lose or draw regardless of the score, and a bonus point :) for each team score you get right. So Accybeme and Taypot get 3 :):):) for the correct result, 1 :) for “Stanley 0” and 1 :) for “Lincoln 2”, so 5 altogether, which is a “maxi”. This also shows up in the table as a “win”.

Monkey Hanger and his mates, who’d all forecast a 2-1 defeat, get 4 points, that’s 3 for the correct result, plus a single bonus point for “Lincoln 2”. Anyone who’d predicted a 1-0, 3-0, 4-0 etc defeat would also have got 4 points, but no-one did. Stanley Josh and Valairian both went for 3-1 down, so they got 3 for the correct result but no bonuses. And all 5 are shown in the table with a “draw”, which is a correct result without a perfect score.

Div3North and Outback Ozzy went 3-2 Stanley, so despite getting the result wrong got a bonus point for “Lincoln 2”. Ossy Kid and Smudgie went for 0-0 and Revived Red for 2-2, so they all get a bonus point for one side or the other. And these 5, along with everybody else who missed out completely :eek: on the points, are shown in the table as a “loss”.

Anyway roll on ….:confused: erm :confused:…. the Wombles in a fortnight as far as this competition’s concerned. But there’s the minor matter of Sunderland in the League Cup first …. On Stanley On!!

CRB (actually now DBS) is only proof that you've never been caught!

Did I mention having an NVQ in it too?

Should have known DBS we have to do them for our workers and some of the shockers we get back. Think the NVQ could tip it over the edge, she'll be back:dancedog:
