When are you going to wake up and smell the coffee ?
We are a league one club and need to start operating like one.
The alternative ? Well what most posters on here like to put up with “well if we go down we go down” Try telling that to to the 150 plus who got on a coach / drove all those miles.
Not good enough.

Amazed you have taken such offence at my previous post.
I was simply trying to emphasise that we've been punching above our weight since we won promotion.
Clarify how, in your unrivalled opinion, we;
1) 'Need to start operating like a L1 club'?
2) How you would transform a team that is clearly 'not good enough'?

i would love to know how we can operate as a top league1 club given our resources? anyone who thinks we can is a slice short of a loaf in my book. to survive in this league is a brilliant thing.

One - invest in the product that is put in the pitch.
Two - use that investment wisely.

Who said a top league one club ?
Are you happy with out player investment ?
Before you answer have a look back at what you’ve said.

im happy with the investment we made given resources, i am also pretty certain if more becomes available it will be used for that. i watched stanley go out in 62, i know damn well what can happen. i trust andy holt to do the right thing when its ok to do so.

Investment is beyond any of our influence.
From my perspective, I’d just be happier to see a Stanley XI with at least half the energy, team work and spirit that Ipswich showed today.

Re: Ipswich Town match thread

What do you mean by resources ?
Do you think the monies received from Jackson and Donacien has been invested wisely ie 100% into the club excluding the team ?
Before you start ranting I’m not saying all the money should have gone on playing staff but surely Coley should have had a reasonable budget ?

Re: Ipswich Town match thread

i have no idea how that brass was spent, could have been on numerous things, including wages for a larger squad, i have no idea, like i said i trust A.H. to do his best for the club, sod all to with ranting, but you think what yeh wish.

Time for a reality check????
Perhaps the surprise is not that we took a beating from a big club with ambitions of promotion, but that we've managed to survive for so long with a team consisting largely of loanees, rejects & freebies.
There's a limit to what is achievable without players of proven quality at this higher level.
Let's be honest, most of our squad are L2 standard at best - some would struggle to make it in a decent Conference team.
It's a miracle we're even competing in L1 against big city clubs with huge budgets.
Win or lose, enjoy the ride - while it lasts!

Common Sense prevails.......

My friend, I think it's you who needs to 'wake up & smell the coffee'
Your response has only confirmed my earlier post, that today's result only highlights the lack of quality in our current squad.
I agree with you! In L1 terms we're 'not good enough'
We all know the reason is due to the financial restraints we are under due to our lowly gates.
We're simply unable to attract players of proven L1 quality, both in terms of salaries + transfer/agents fees.
It seems pointless gnashing our teeth about the situation, it is what it is & will always be thus.
Let's be thankful for every win, grateful for the draws & expect the odd thrashing.
It's all in the game!

Re: Ipswich Town match thread

The club is still improving off the pitch the changing rooms for example aren't fit for standard we have to get those done apparently to satisfy the league and believe this close season will be replaced along with corporate facilities etc, etc, yes 28 probably at the expense of the playing budget but has been said before once stadium improvements are finished more channeled into player recruitment, if you don't like this way off doing things which are a nessecity tough watch someone else with a bigger budget.

Re: Ipswich Town match thread

I think league 1 this season is a poor standard Stanley included your big hitters I think will finish in the top 4 Rotherham, Sunderland, Ipswich and Coventry or Portsmouth.

So there you go.
If you have an opinion that doesn’t match ours go and watch someone else.

You can watch anyone it's a big world outside of Stanley with huge amounts of cash being tossed about.

Re: Ipswich Town match thread

Very naive response.
Who has said anything about tossing cash about ?
The club did brilliant to get up.
The club did brilliant to get the figures we did selling Jackson and Donacien.
Upon your own admission League One standard is poor.
So why are we struggling ?
You may have a different opinion but mine is because we’ve invested on the cheap on the product on the pitch. The players.
Why would I want to go and watch football elsewhere ?
Haven’t missed many games for years.
All this talk of bankrupting the club is nonsense.
It’s about how you allocate your funds and budgeting.
The best signing we’ve made is the pitch 100%.
What’s the point in sparkling up corporate facilities if you don’t invest in the product on the pitch ?
All about opinions.
