2019/20 Prediction League; Starter for Ten

Accrington Stanley Prediction League

Starters for Ten

I realise that Prediction Leaguers are probably resigned to missing their footie (“Shame”), but then it hit me that both of you would be likely to be devastated (“I’m devastated”) about having NO Starters for Ten to have a go at until at least May ………….. So; no cheating, and here we go….

1. Which Prawn Sandwich League player has received the most yellow cards in PSL games, and how many did he get? And since there are normally 46 games per season in League One, who is 46th in the list of PSL Yellows, and how many did HE get?

2. Lucy Bronze has just won the BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year award for 2020; she also won it in 2018; who won it in 2019?

3. How many days did Fort William FC go without a Highland League win before they eventually beat Clachnacuddin 1-0 to break their hoodoo?

4. What is the full (real) name of You Fat Bastard, and how old will he be this time round (10th May)?

5. Who did the Stanley beat 2-1 away on Boxing Day 2009?

6. During last summer’s close season, we ProperSigned nine players (ok 8, because Dion was after the season kicked off); six of those nine were English-born; the other three were born in Antigua and Barbuda, Portugal and the Republic of Guinea. Who were those three?

7. Which former League side did the Bishop of Wham play for immediately before he moved to play for Leamington?

8. And speaking of Colby, which team was he playing for when he made his EFL debut, and who were the opposition on the day?

9. Steve Baines made over 440 league appearances between 1972 and 1987, playing for Huddersfield, Bradford, Walsall, Scunthorpe and TwistySpires United; what, almost uniquely, did he lace his boots on for between 1995 and 2003?

10. Which former Man U midfielder signed (in February 2020, until the end of the season) for the SalfordMoneyBags?

There are 17 points on offer; if you get six, give yourself a pat on the back – but you do need to get out more! (On your own, and only once a day for now!)

Stay safe – keep well

Jeff

Other than 'The Beast' I would not have the foggiest about ANY on those - The Bishop included......

That being said, thanks so much for putting this up mate - a very, very welcome distraction from the 'war like' times surrounding us!!!

3 might be 882 and I do not know where that came from??

Take care my friend and stay safe :)

:) :) :)

Don't know many but I think
No.2 is Ada Hegerberg
No.5 is Morecambe
No.7 is Boston United
No. 8 is Grimsby but don't know the opposition
No.10 is Darren Gibson

Oh & on our first game back after the craziness has stopped i reckon we'll win 3 - 1, no matter who we play :)

Hi Joe/Di

Glad you’ve had a go - it’s not easy!

Joe - you’re right about 882 days; it is the Beast, but what’s his full name and how old?
Di - 4 correct, but 8 isn’t Grimsby (but the right team does also wear Juve shirts though

Hope you’re both fit and well. Stay safe

Jeff

Over the years there have been a small handful of ex-pros who became referees, but mostly they only played a couple of pro matches, and didn't really have a "playing career" ……….. Steve Baines played 400+ games, and was a League ref for 8 years ………………….. :alright:

Stay safe, keep well …………… Still a couple of unanswered questions!

Joe

His full name is Saheed Adebayo Akinfenwa, and he's 37 - 38 in May

And I'd guess it's that he's scored against us for each of the four teams he's played for - Northampton, Gillingham, Wombles and Wycombe ..... Although (a) he was in the Gills side we beat 7-4 and (b) I think he only scored for the Wombles against us in the post season game, not in regular season games

Good question, though

Stay well

Jeff

I’ll make Q1 easier; name the player with the greatest number of yellow cards? He has 125, according to the list

Number 46 is Titus Bramble, with 60

I can’t think what the answer to your YFB question could be: I’ve answered with all the info I can remember :D

So........ I have not understood your question, as I thought it was this season :o

If it is PSL overall, I would be going for somebody who has played plenty of games.... Giggs, or Milner type thing???

Thinking cap on :)

Cannot wait for the next set of questions..... :)

Joe - it is PSL overall, and you’re in the right sort of area, but it’s not those two

Working on “Starter for Ten Two” .... Or is that Ten Too?

Is question 1 Wayne Rooney?

7th, between Scott Parker and Robbie Savage :alright:

StanleyJosh 26-03-2020 05:15

Re: 2019/20 Prediction League; Starter for Ten

Wow, thought he would have been much higher.
I’m guessing his cards to game ratio would put him towards the top end.

So, with that in mind my next guess is purely down to appearances as I don’t think he is known for getting many yellow cards??

Gareth Barry who I’m sure has made approx. 500 appearances

AccyMad 26-03-2020 05:53

Re: 2019/20 Prediction League; Starter for Ten

Ok, my next guess on question 1 is Steve Gerrard??

Div3North 26-03-2020 06:08

Re: 2019/20 Prediction League; Starter for Ten

Stevie Gerrard is 39th; Gareth Barry is top of the list with 125 yellows

Well done!

Episode two in a few days :alright::alright::alright:

AccyMad 26-03-2020 08:53

Re: 2019/20 Prediction League; Starter for Ten

Gareth Barry? - Wouldn't have thought that, it's like saying it was Paul Mullin :)

VALAIRIAN 26-03-2020 10:10

Re: 2019/20 Prediction League; Starter for Ten

650 games, 125 yellows, not that bad really????

Imagine if Sam Finley played 650 games :D he would have to play until he was over 50 :D

:) :)

:theband::theband:

Jeff,

My understanding - and I wait to be corrected :) - he scored his one and only hat trick against us!!!

Playing for Northampton at the time and it was at The Crown - we lost 2-4, I think :(

His 3rd - as I remember it - was a diving header (Coppice End) and when he landed, there was a reported 7.2 on the Richter scale :D

Something I have learnt recently about Bayo, is he donated the match worn shirt to Northampton, to be auctioned off, when they were struggling - top chap in my eyes!!!!

Joe :)

:) :) :)

Div3North 28-03-2020 14:00

Re: 2019/20 Prediction League; Starter for Ten

I was there Joe, and the third was indeed a horizontal flying header; the landing brought down two mill chimneys in Eccles

I didn't know it was his only hat trick, though

I've done another Quiz; anybody up for it?
