They all need a knock on the head after Saturday 😁

Did not like it Saturday, do not like it tonight :(

Malcolm/Mansell are strikers, Pell is a midfielder, picking names, not players - let us hope I am eating slice after slice of humble pie later tonight..... :(

Six midfield players. Maybe they’ve given Colby a phone to keep in touch?

And then there were only five midfielders.
Sir Harry Pell now officially a striker!
Well done, lads.

Some good football played by Stanley first half. We are much better when we play possession/passing football. Lets hope we can keep it up second half for a much needed win

Bit harsh more an unfortunate hash of a clearance came at Morgan very quick and it hit him rather than him hitting the ball.We are playing very well just one criticism when they have the ball Conneely and Morgan are caught a bit too far forward one of them needs to be the lynchpin picking the runner through the middle up.

Not referring to the clearance, nor Morgan. My comment related to the fact Nottingham made a mistake giving the ball to their lad which resulted in the attempt at a clearance.

Pell's second free kick was well over the line! Not having much luck at the moment.

Re: Charlton away thread

Great win should really have read 3-0 but cut the errors out and we are a good side what a player we have in Pell constantly in other teams faces and Hamilton was fantastic on the right all players deserving of at least an 8 tonight.

Sherring and Amankwa our week links tonight. It's a shame we can't play 3 Nottinghams a cross the back line. I like them both Amankwa looks so assured going forward...less so under pressure one on one defending at the back. A massive 3 points with so many difficult games to come. Sherring needs more game time and more coaching, as he's ourcplayer I expect him to get both.

Well done Pelly.......scored 2.........should have been 3...

my thoughts are Amankwa should play midfield, he can certainly cross a ball, i think as good if not better than sean,

Re: Charlton away thread

Amankwah and Sherring has Coley said are young lads learning the game has loanees go this year's crop of 5 all look good and interested Amankwah especially looks a classy player plenty of game time and he will I am sure get even better cut out the mistakes and we are a good side.

Re: Charlton away thread

The error Yeboah made, which led to their second, was trying to shield the ball over the bye line.
He’s not yet strong enough for that, and needs to realise there’s nothing wrong with clearing it to Row Z (which maybe exists at The Valley) for a throw-in.

It was his second free kick, Cashy. Certainly looked as much, if not more over the line than Geoff Hurst’s effort in 1966.

scoring 3 goals away, coming back with 3 points it becomes hard to criticise any player for me. if that game is repeated the rest of the season i,m more than happy.

Really ?
Under achieve ?
Win percentage over 40% consecutive promotions with Southampton - then there's his success with Scunny.
Sorry don't accept that depending on your definition of achievements.
He even squeezed some life out of SUFC.

The one question I have unanswered from the performance at Charlton was, even if he suddenly wanted to rejoin the squad, who would have been dropped from that team to make room for Charles?
No-one who played at The Valley, that’s for sure.
What a stupid agent he must have if Charles has been following his advice.

So would Pell, rather than marauding up front, have to cover Morgan’s defensive duties to make room for Charles?

In football it's the here and now that matters at most clubs not what you have achieved in the past, he was on a hiding to nothing at Charlton the fans didn't in the main like his appointment in the first place so as soon as this run of bad results came along his fate was sealed by the fans.

Sorry, Val, didn’t mean it as a ‘challenge’, but you’re probably right.
However, Pell’s impact has improved in a more attacking role and it’s good to see new things being tried, and coming off.

VALAIRIAN 23-10-2021 09:16

Re: Charlton away thread

Agreed and we all know that King Coley hates to change anything :)

Harry Pell is the best signing in ages and is more that proving Coley right :)

I would though say - and we can look back in May - I do not think over the season it is the way forward.

Strikers/goal scorers should play up front - in my opinion - and Dion/Colby worked very well together and helped us defend from the front :)

All about opinions ;)

:) :) :)

So if we lose 5 on the bounce you think Coley's going to get the bum's rush ?
No.
He was described as an under achiever. I disagree.
