The Final Final Tables

12 Year Bragging Rights Belong To The B-Hive

12 seasons, 541 games and the AccyWeb Prediction League Management Team is stepping down by mutual consent, as they say . So do we have an overall winner?

There seemed to be two ways of doing this, simple total points won over the period and allocating points for position gained in each season’s final table. So I’ve done both, the latter by giving 10 points for coming top, 9 for second etc., down to a single point for 10th. And it turned out not to make any difference , the winner on either count being Nige B :D, with 965 total points to Cashman’s 917 and Mab’s 914, and 48 “Grand Prix” points to Kiwi John’s 45 and Cashy’s 36.

Obviously you had to be in it regularly ;) to win it, and 15 of us took part every year. Fittingly, Div3North takes the honours for the most entries, only forgetting to enter his own guess  3 times. The Top Ten here were all covered by just 19 goes, Mab and Leylandii coming equal 9th with 519 goes compared with D3N’s 538. All the ever-presents can be found somewhere in the "Most Games" Top Twenty.

Turning to more esoteric measures ;), we come to average points per game. Here we have a tie at the top, with AccyAggro and Pete Scholes both achieving the perfect 5 . However, as they each only entered once :(, this is perhaps not such a great achievement. Among the very occasionals, it is perhaps worthy of remark that Lord Love Rocket (may his name be blessed and never typed again on this keyboard :)) did average 3.00 over 5 goes, which suggests he did have potential …..

But restricting that measure to people who entered at least half the time produces Ange B :D as the winner, averaging 1.8980 ppg over 304 goes. Second here was Football19 (1.8558) and 3rd Deeayess (1.8073). I am quoting these to 4 decimal places because I had to go that far to separate Deeayess from Nige, 4th with 1.8071.

And finally the number of maxis, the afternoons and evenings where goalkeepers and strikers alike read your minds and did exactly what you expected them to do. Here our champion is Mab :D, getting it right 54 times out of 519, 10.4% perfection, so about 1 in 10, or 4 to 5 times a season. And just one better than Kiwi, 53 from 521, and four better than Ossy Kid and Football19 on 50. On a maxi percentage basis however, F19 wins with 12.02% against Ange’s 11.18% and Deeayess’ 10.55%.

Top Twenty Tables for all these pointless statistics are attached, in two bites.

Thanks for playing, without you there would be no statistics :D

So ..... Goodbye, and Thanks for all the Fish! The final answer is, of course, 42.

:do-one:

It's yours, provided you keep it in an appropriate virtual trophy cabinet :D.

No-one has suggested they might take this on next year, as far as I know. But if anyone does want to have a go, they're more than welcome as far as D3N and I are concerned.

Thanks to both of you for doing this for the past few years. I think you've both been hoisted by your own whatsit, as none of us would have the temerity to attempt to come up to the same standard of posts and summaries.
