David Bailey Leaving

I was reading on LinkedIn that David Bailey Academy Head of Recruitment was leaving I don't have Facebook but his posts on LinkedIn were always very positive about the Youth set up and things they were up to. Have we got someone to replace him ? Seemed a very good guy.

Judging by the response by one of the sponsors he helped bring in, it could of been something behind the scenes to make him go

Re: David Bailey Leaving

I wondered whether it was something to do with Will Donachie and the other fella coming in.

Seems an odd decision for him to put his notice in. He spent all morning on sunday uploading his memories to twitter and seemed a bit emotional.

Looking at what they have done with the academy it appears to be a fantastic place to send your kids, but what is the purpose of our academy? Is it a box ticking exercise? Is it to spread and promote the 'brand'? Or is it to produce 1st team players?

Can only surmise his results dont match expectation in whatever category the academy falls into.

Phil Hackney did a decent job at producing 1st teamers but wasnt a brand spreader.

Not sure who's responsible but few youth team players coming through now in Ogle, Sykes and Zehn...

Hopefully get to see them in pre season!

Re: David Bailey Leaving

We have 2 or 3 every season that get the call up but its been a while since any forced their way in properly.

Pretty sure we HAVE to include 2 youth products in the squad this season, hoping for a bit more than making up the numbers from these lads
