Hi Billy.....

Glad you could make it!....We're all waiting for DM's CONSIDERED opinion in regard to
the apparent weaknesses in the Stanley's defensive system...

A defensive coach ( is that one who is not always willing to give an answer?)...
A DEFENCE Coach seems to be his latest offering....But isn't that the Manager and his Assistant's job anyway ?..

As Eric (not THE Eric!) would say...'We can't afford owt better' so let 'em get on wi it'
Am I a defeatist, or should we give JC & JB 'til the end of the Season..
I can't see what point there is anyway in changing a Manager at this stage in the
Season!....

OR IS THERE ANOTHER WAY ??????.......ON STANLEY!.......ON!!.

if we finish higher than last year - its still progress.

as bad as it is, JC is still the answer until abramovich turns up.

What about Kenny Arthur picking the defence? He should know who the best defenders are at the club and what formation to play! Although for the next game make sure someone is on the back post for a corner.

Someone WAS on the post, unfortunately it was the wrong post!..and it seems that this was another example of the 'switching'off' which has caused the many defensive problems, allowed inferior teams to score easy goals against the Reds, and led the Club to it's frightening 'goals-against' situation.

Would a Psychological Coach be of more value than someone merely employed
in the role of 'Defence Coach'...not only would this brighten-up the on-field application of the players, but might also provide the proper motivational
therapy which, on ocasion,has seemed to be absent in the squad!

APPLICATION + MOTIVATION = SUCCESS & SATISFACTION.

JC & JB MUST STAY...A CLEARING OUT AT THIS JUNCTURE
WOULD BE DISASTROUS ....even if it would satisfy some of those
looking for Blood!....KEEP THE FAITH!!!

For Brentford's second goal, from a coner, Kenny Arthur was shouting for someone to mark the back post, nobody would do it - probably not wanting to upset Coley who has instructed them not to mark the back post. The ball went to the back post and into the net. If someone had been marking the back post they probably wouldn't have scored and we would have gone in level at half time. As No.9 Dream says, for years I have been saying things like 'If we had a defence we would be dangerous' and I used to get slagged off for saying it, it's only now that people are starting to agree with me.

And of course you are right on the mark Jeff...all I'm suggesting in my rather tongue-in-cheek posting regarding the addition of a Sports Psychologist to the coaching staff ( once agan!)...is that the team are not that far away from being one that can be moderately successful in the league...and with additional application....as in 'back-post marking and covering'...that they can achieve this success!.

But it seems these weaknessess need to be addressed by someone who
can not only spot them in the first place..but also make the correct moves to rectify them.

The whole team..and perhaps the Managers too!...might benefit from a bit of accurate Diagnosis and resultanr treatment !!

Then Jeff...We might be dangerous once again....the FES might become 'the Fortress'...and everyone would be satisfied!...BUT then we'd have nothing to write about!!

brentford was the first time i have seen stanley this season.... and imho the main difference between the teams was confidence.... brentford looked like a team on the up stanley looked like a team in need of a couple of wins and a positive attitude along with that little bit of luck that winning teams get.
a couple of great moves in the first half could have put us 2 up before brentford started especially the shot that rattled the bar..... when you are winning those go in.
the defence look indecisive... like they want to be on the back post but dont want a row with JC if they do??? aswad looks class tho some very well timed tackles.
cant see us going down but its going to be roller coaster from now til the end of the season... ON STANLEY ON

I've only been able to get to a handful of games this season but one thing that strikes me is that the opposition generally seem fitter and stronger. Perhaps a fitness coach is needed.

Fitter and stronger between the Ears..and in the Heart ?......isn't that where everyone seems to think the weaknesses lie as far as 'the Reds' are concerned !!.....So who is going to motivate them to find greater inner strength and the will to WIN ?...Eric?..JC?...JB....or ?
