If anyone is randomly in Whitehaven Sunday!?!
Stanley Ladies are to make the very long 2 1/2 hour journey to Whitehaven's very own 3G pitch at the County Ground this Sunday, kick-off at 2pm.
Stanley currently lie in 5th in the League table on 8 points but could go 4th with a win at the weekend. Next weekend they take on Brazil Ladies at home at Wilsons in the LFA Women's Cup 2nd round! But if anyone is randomly anywhere in Cumbria this Sunday, you're very welcome to come and watch!!  |

Good luck but I'm not sure how your'e going to get 22 players and 3 officals on a mobile phone
 ( PS I do know what a 3G pitch is really )

The ladies have drawn 1 a piece each at Whitehaven today. Which gives us 9 points now, and leaves us comfortably mid table.

I would normally have taken a point away from home and celebrated like nobodies business!! BUT after the display I saw today, tenacious and strong, we deserved all three.
We scored first, a great shot by Sophie Jones from inside the box that looped under the keeper, which set the scene for us to build on. That was until the referee completely changed the mood of the game, he miraculously (after no injuries bear in mind) added on 7 minutes of added time in the first half!! He then gave a penalty in the 6th min of added time for a ball which hit our centre-backs chest OUTSIDE the area and for which the liner didn't agree with. Our goalie got her fingertips to it but just couldn't push it past the post. After the break, Stanley continued to be on top throughout and just when we thought it was going to be another win with shots flying in from left, right and centre, he blew for full-time in the 89th!! Go figure, it's a sickener but that's football I guess!!! We got a point and better than none!! I'm not bitter.............just disappointed!! Roll on the cup next weekend, David vs Goliath and David will again (fingers crossed) come out victorious!! |
