Re: rossy tonight
I have no idea what the management team could have learned from tonight's game, but what do I know?

Re: rossy tonight
John Miles played the 1st half.
The Darwen player was again number 2
The Argentinians were back in force, the number 5 hit the bar from 30 yards.
Other than that very low key.
King Kenny was solid and loud, don't know if any of our players could understand what he was saying!!

Re: rossy tonight
Taken from East Lancashire's daily newspaper. Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle, Ribble Valley & Ros
But it was Stanley who made the breakthrough 20 minutes from the end, when an effort from trialist Donny Clark deflected past Lee Bracey into the Rossendale goal.
Moments later, the lead was doubled when fellow trialist Ray Sherwood popped up in the penalty area to poke home from close range after a good double save from Bracey.

Re: rossy tonight
Donny Clark who scored Stanley's first goal is the number 10 from the Darwen game, I think he has been playing for Haslingden St. Mary's in the West Lancashire League and is about 26 years old.
The number 2 from Darwen, as far as I know, is Craig Flowers who was released by Stockport at the end of last season. This was on the Stockport site on 22nd August 2007

Craig Flowers, aged 18, hails from Burnage, and, after spells as a schoolboy at Blackburn and Bolton, has been playing for Salford City this season.

Re: rossy tonight
I didn't even recognise that Miles was playing. I heard his name announced and then completely forgot about him. Must be force of habit.

Re: rossy tonight
is it just me or do ya reckon a few more of the actual squad should be getting a bit of match practice also?

I agree completely. I have no idea what the management could tell from last night. Watching a team of strangers running around is no way to tell if they'll fit into the team.
However, as I said earlier, what do I know?

Re: rossy tonight
Could not this be a cunning ploy to fool any Wolves spies who may be watching these games?

Re: rossy tonight
The first team squad did play last Saturday at Cammell Laird with Craney playing striker and Cavannagh playing in midfield so nothing has changed there (players playing out of position). I do agree that the first team squad should be playing more, probably with a mix of trialists instead of having a full team made up of trialists. I don't know how you can evaluate a trialist when you are playing him against Darwen, Cammell Laird and Rossendale. We now have no friendlies arranged until Saturday 26th July - Burnley at home, after that we only have Burscough, Barrow and Squires Gate - not the ideal opposition to gell a team together ready for the start of the season.
