Re: Shrewsbury Match Thread

Forgot to mention Boozer's fine performance earlier. He looked very much in control on the rare occasions when the Shrews broke through our solid back four. His diving save to keep out a point blank header in the second half was superb. A while ago I was presumptious enough to question his ability down low to his left side - shame on me!
None of the match reports mention the 1st half cast iron penalty for us that the ref missed. Miles was going in on goal from a great one-two with Symes when he had his legs taken from under him - unbelievable.

OK, but I thought they meant the other shout we had for handball in the second half!

Isn't it great to be featured in other fans' top seven predictions, instead of in their relegation predictions?

Re: Shrewsbury Match Thread

Just viewed Willie's link !! (That sounds rude!!). Blue and Amber give lots of credit to the twenty or so ULTRAS who outsang their 5,000 all afternoon. The new ground looks great but has very little atmosphere. The stands are a good 10 metres from the touchline. West stand do have a group of about 50 like minded fans who sang quite well in second half but they need some leadership and flags and a repertoire of songs.
Stanley were once again superb !! The whole team battled well, created great moves and defended resolutely when needed. Too many great performances to dwell on but must mention KEMPO returning after the sending off and to a former club. He was like a rock!!
As Redraine said, absolute blatant penalty on Myles when doing great one two with Symes just 7 or 8 yards out. Would surely have scored and it should have been a Pen and a sending off for the Shrews defender.
Procky got cheesed off with the Ref, a soft booking earlier and for the second was battling fairly for the ball but the Shrews midfielder went down easily and sprung to his feet waving at the ref for a booking, totally soft and unprofessional. Having said that Procky really lost his temper, waving his arms and shouting. He kicked a bottle on the touch line almost into the stand and got resounding boos from the Shrews fans in that area.
The Shrews stewards were great. They let our fans stand and sing which they did for the whole 90 minutes. They said that, although small in number, we were the best fans they have ever seen.
A great day out. Come on people of Accrington and get down the Crown ground and watch the best Stanley team in the modern era. The football is first class and the atmosphere fabulous.
ON STANLEY ON.

Re: Shrewsbury Match Thread

Great show ULTRAS - as always I know Michael Symes is the 'flavour of the season', but could I suggest that an instant response to what is happening on the pitch would go down well. Bobby Grant scored, but nothing! Let's remember it is a team game, and the team is doing great.
Something quick with easily changed words to 'One Man Went to Mow?'

Bobby scored a goal
Scored a goal for Accy
Magic team to back him up
Scoring goals for Accy!

Jimmy took a kick
Took a kick for Accy
Magic team to back him up
Taking kicks for Accy!

Bouzer saved a goal
Saved a goal for Accy
Magic team to back him up
Saving goals for Accy!

Think it would show that we are all on the ball
