Stanley need a favour
According to my calculations (which may be way out) Stanley could do with Shrewsbury beating Stevenage and Woking/Telford match ending in a draw to hopefully get a chance at the 8th place spot that the club want so that they may play in next years LDV Trophy. The of course it all depends how Stanley fare at Exeter - and considering our away day travels to date, not much chance - or maybe!!
Come on you Shrews.

Top 8 for LDV ... It would seem the figure of top 8 isn't written in stone. It's a figure used by many including our own management team and others.. But there are people who seem to think it may be more. However I can't find anything for sure

Rule 5 here - http://www.football-league.premiumtv...,10794,00.html - is nice and ambiguous. Rule 27 states that 10% of the gate receipts are pooled after expenses and distributed amongst FL clubs. So we could get invited in if the FL thought we'd generate decent gates and in turn a nice chunk of cash for them.

spoke to Cav at the reserve game on wednesday and he seemed to think the LDV was going to be the top 12 Clubs next season not top 8 as originally thought.

Would be nice to get the chance to pit ourselves amongst the Div 3 and 2 teams even though it is thought of as a Micky Mouse trophy in some parts. Bet the Likes of Blackpool and Wigan don't think that. Lets get behind the team today at the IES and cheer them on for a final time this season

There were 12 Conference teams in it this year. They were the two sides relegated from Division 3 plus the 7 (non-promoted) teams that finished in the top 9 in the 2002-03 Conference table plus Barnet (11th) , Stevenage (12th) and Telford (15th). For some reason Margate (10th), Farnborough (13th) and Northwich (14th) weren't included.
So it's not a foregone conclusion that a top 12 place guarantees entry. There's obviously some selection process. Does anyone know what it is? |
